Fake Dan Marino Signature?

Hey guys I was hoping for some opinions on this:

For christmas this year I received a signed Marino jersey from my mother.
She went out of her way to surprise me with this great gift. When I looked at the jersey I noticed that the signature didn't look right. I immedietly began investigating the authenticity of the signature only to find nothing that showed this even resembled Marino's signature.

When she e-mailed the seller of this jersey, Jimmy D's Sports Collectibles through e-bay, he assured her that it was authentic. Today I went to ebay and found that the jersey she had purchased was different from the one he had sent to her. I have provided pictures of the jersey she thought she had purchased ebay item number 5144385505 and pictures of the item that was sent.

I guess what I am hoping to get out of this is to find out what I can do to get this guy kicked off of ebay and to warn any of you that may be looking to purchase any signed memorabilia of this persons practices.

The attached files named pictures of ebay are the pictures that he had posted on ebay of the jersey she thought she was buying. The pictures labeled picture of received jersey are the pictures of the jersey she actually did receive.

i hate to tell you but that is a fake!! i am serious i have four of marinos auto's and they do not resemble that at all dude!! you are right about the auto not looking right that is a terrible attempt to fake that signature man!

Im pretty sure its an obligational contract thing. Hes breaking the contract and EBay doesnt take this likely. I'd follow this up and see what they are going to do about it. Sounds like Fraud to me. Hope u get the original dude.

you need to got this sorted out real quick. even the card that is to mean its real is different from the real ones. EBAY is now part of paypal and paypal is a major scam, so if you go through ebay to resolve this matter, be ready to wait until 2010 to get it resolved. Contact ebay and then your local police and even take it as far as demanding the ISP of the person that sold your mom the jersey and write it down and the address the jersey was shipped from and start contacting lawyers for advice. Sorry you got scammed man, but it happens and thats why when I buy my sport stuff, I go to a sports store that sells the autographed stuff right then and there. But it was a nice idea from your mom.

Where about in PA are you from? J/w because I can tell you some stores that sell all kind of autographed marino stuff.

Yeah that looks like a fake. My sig football from dan looks alot different then that one. How i know it is a fake because i looked at it on my screensavor(it has his sig on there) and it looked the same as it is on my football. If i was you i would get in to contact with that person and tell them that you want your money back. I hate when people does stupid stuff by fakeing a sig from a pro player.

Ebay is a middle man type of thing, they do not hold their buyers or sellers acountable for the actions of buying/selling and the product in the purchase.

I agree with tenndolfan. I have 5 marino signature items and not one of them even remotely resembles the signature that you received. hope you nail the rat to the wall.

i have contacted e-bay and have also sent a message along with pictures to the seller. I hope that this can be resolved but I understand that there are many complications.

What I do hope is that no one else buys from this guy. He has multiple "signed collectibles" up for bid at all times.

Here is how you get to him real quick. If it was shiped by mail this is called mail fruad. Look up that states Post master general that he is from. And let him know that if this is not taken care of immidiently that you will report him,and make sure you send him the name and address of the post master general. Just so he knows you mean buisness. Usually that will work quickly!!!!!

I have had a jersey of his framed for a long time from Upper Deck with his sig.

Wanted to match it up.

The blue Pitt jersey I showed next to the white dolphins jersey is the real signature, I watched him sign that one. So you can use that to match with your jersey
