You know, this is one of the greatest threads I've ever read. If I had the equipment, given all the extra time I have on hand, I'd be doing (at least trying to) this sort of stuff - always wanted, always will. Alas, I cannot afford some stuff - but still, great, great work CK. Keep it up.

Thanks again, I don't have the resources you have so it's appreciated.

When a Qb has a quick release, and some zip on the ball, you want the corner to expect that route. That's what it's all about! Making him go for the ball, not the wide out, which in Chambers/Kelly's case he didnt. I thought that was an all around good play by the Qb, Wr, and the Corner.

Although I really hate that pattern, but if everything goes right, it can lead to a long gain, or a TD, that includes the other receivers taking their men to right spot, and boxing them out. Especially the Safety on the side of the play.
You're right on there, I feel. A couple of times this year, if AJ is able to gun that sumbytch on the out routes and CBs (like Fred Smoot) gamble on the ball, that WR can take off for a niiiice long gain once he gets it, especially if it is thrown in stride the way Feeley threw it to Chambers. I remember one of the few plays Ray Lucas made for us in 2002 was like that except it was against San Diego (where interestingly enough, Brian Griese also looked good). CB bit on the out, James McKnight took it to the house. I look forward to that happening once or twice this year.

Jaws, for once in the announcing during the game, began to compliment a Phins player instead of a Bucs player...and it was AJ Feeley.

The other guy tried to be like "Of course, this is the Dolphins FIRST team offense going against the SECOND team defense here..." and Jaws shut the guy up and said something like "Yeah, but that doesn't matter as far as the QB is concerned because right now if you pay attention you can see Feeley is really getting a feel for the game and the balls are coming out ON TIME and accurately."

Goddamn that was in depth.

Do you offer math tutoring? Because I'm awful in math and I needed to take that post step by step of else I'd lose myself.

BTW to the question about DVR/Tivo - DVR is amazing. I got it a few days ago and it couldn't be more awesome. Built in hardrive, and like I think the guy said near 50 hours of recording space. Thats going to come in handy during the season.

um i took a stats class and the first thing that jumps out at me is that they both may not be the same distances. I dont think we all need this as evidence that AJ has a stronger arm. All i want to know about Feeley are the intangibles like two minute offense (does he have a total grasp on the O), can he hang onto the ball when hit, hows his scrammbling ability, Is he still hanging onto the ball too long? those things, but i cant read between the lines when all the lines are anti fielder pro feeley.

In regards to Jaws and his counterpart the bias towards the Bucs was sickening. They never mentioned the name of any Fin players when they made tackles or any other defensive plays. And you're right Jaws said it did'nt matter from a QB standpoint [1st vs 2nd string] he still has to process the infomation and go thru his progressions. Nice job on the breakdown on the QB throws. You sure do destroy the sterotype of the guy with the black rim glasses and pencilpouch.

Solving the velocity mathmatically is ubsurd. You only compared two throws and Dolphin fans don't need the Pythagorean Theorem to know that Jay Fiedler floats his passes to the sidelines and all over the field for that fact. It's those 1 in 10 that he gets a good throw on that DW keeps him in the game for. Are you going to tell us the Doppler effect used with a radar gun now. Great dedication. Good Math. Didn't need proving. Fiedlers floaters have been getting Dolphins receivers and big drives killed for years now.

Well done CK...

To be more exact about the NTSC video broadcast signal...It's actually 29.97 frames per second made up of two interlaced fields per frame (59.94 fields per second).

Now you need to find the hall of fame QB MPH range (upper and lower) using Marino and Bob Griese as a standard reference.

They were the specific Buc announcers--they were holding Buccaneer microphones, so I'd assume they'd be a little Buc biased. I did hear them complement Miami's defense, and Jaws also talked about his Seau commment, basically saying Seau more than proved Jaws wrong. I'm not a Jaws fan, but they were simply the Bucs announcer.

CK:
Great, great stuff, thanks for broadening my sports side of my brain. It goes to show that there are peeps out there that don't base their entire opinions from playing Madden and watching 5 minutes of SportsCenter highlights.

Anyone else notice the irony of calling someone else's analysis "ubsurd" when the word is in fact "absurd"?

I liked the thread and found it interesting. For those of us who don't hate Feidler its nice to see physical evidence that Feeley actually does throw outs with more velocity.
