I'm a Street Pharmacist down in South Florida. Anyway, I Love the dolphins for one because I've always been a 'hometown favorite' type of guy so whoever plays in my area usually becomes my team. And Also I love there colors, and I see ALOT of potential in them. I've been a fan for About 10 years now (I'm 19 now)

Second Generation Fin Fan

I was born into a Dolphin family. My dad met my mom in Tennessee in '65, married her, and took her back to south Florida. A couple of years later, the Dolphins franchise arrived. My mother actually was the fan. She got my dad into it, and I was just taught to be a DolFan. Sad to say, I was born in March of 1974, a couple of months after our last Super Bowl victory. Sigh...some day...

A side story...my dad's uncle has known Don Shula since Shula's sons were kids. He was their little league baseball coach! I got to meet one of his sons (the one that coached the Bengals for a while) back in the summer of '85 when I went to a scrimage in Atlanta.

I am a computer geek. I get paid to wait for the phone to ring. Finheaven fills the gaps.

BTW: This is my first post on FinHeaven. I've been lurking around for a few months now.

My hat's off to you. I don't know how you guys do that straight out of school. As you've found, law school doesn't teach you jack about the way the practice of law operates. It takes quite a few years to get a handle on it, but it's not bad after you learn how to be realistic with what you can accomplish for a client, how to make them understand that, and how that all meshes with your reputation amongst your peers for honesty and fair-dealing.

Don't hesitate...LITIGATE!

Estate planning is great work...if you can get into it. Part of the reason I didn't end up practicing in Buffalo was because there's a couple firms in the city that lock up almost all the sweet estate planning work.

The MS bar was 3.5 days, Agua?!? WOW! I thought the Nevada bar was the longest, at 3 days. Makes me glad for NY's 2 day exam.

JJ, for attorney-related, but non-practice work, you might also consider legal publishing, my line of work. You won't get rich, but it's a 40 hour week, pays pretty well, and has fabulous benefits. If I'm not mistaken, Lexis (our arch-enemy; I work for West) is centered in Charlotte, NC, which isn't terribly far from Richmond.

Territory rep for a Canadian plastic fittings company. Very simply I became a Dolphin fan because they were the best team when i was a kid. They haven't been the best since, but I haven't had to struggle through much in the way of down years either. I have converted my wife from a donkey fan to a fin fan. So much so that she throws little tantrums when they lose now, just like me. She got to go to her first game in Pro Player last year (jets game) and I think she was more excited about that day than our wedding day. Fortunately for me, my parents live in FL so I've gotten to a game in FL most years when I've been down there. I have been to every Fin game in Denver since I was a kid as well (these are much harder tickets to come by).

There is a big Dolphin fan base here in Rochester. Probably the second most popular team after the Bills (although Buffalo has a big lead in that department). On any given Sunday, you can go to The Distillery, my sports bar of choice, and probably 1/4-1/3 of the place will be wearing aqua and orange.

Actually, there aren't many Dolphin fans in Buffalo. There's a couple here on the board, but let me tell you, I lived there for three years and felt pretty damn isolated in that regard. I would guesstimate that 90% of all football fans in Buffalo (and the suburbs thereof) cheer for the Bills. At Ralph Wilson Stadium, when the Phins come to town, probably 8-10 thousand people there are wearing Miami colors. I'd bet that most of them come from Rochester.

As to why that's the case, a lot of it really is anti-Bills sentiment. People can't stand the non-stop, always-inane Bills coverage, so they turn to their arch-rival.

Lived in Miami since 1990, which is why I hate the Dolphins and their fairweather fans...like pretty much every other Miami team though

I'm Paul, I'm a sports journo; insiders.com, firstdown newspaper and I do scouting work for ESPNinsiders, scoutsinc (which basically involves sending them reports along with about 50,000 other people.)

I muse this place as I am a Phin at heart, occasionally posting 20 times a day, occasionally not at all for a week. Depends how busy I am.

I'm also an on off college student, and a plumber (because I enjoy it working for my best mates business)

Oh yeah, and I play for the Scottish Claymores 'farm' team. 3rd string OLB/2nd string SS.

Why do I follow Miami? Simple...family in Florida took me to see Bills/Phins back in the day and I was hooked.

It was back in '93, though the 1/2 day was a few weeks later and dealt only with ethics. Now that I'm thinking back on it, I don't think it was a full half day, maybe 2 or 3 hours.

The wings at Distillery isn't that bad either.

Rochester is one city in WNY that has has the most diversed group of fans. Tons of finfans.

I went to UR and spent EVERY Sunday at the Distillery. I might know you. Did you go on Sundays from the year 1999-2002?

Work in finance in NY. Was a Steeler fan cause of Mean Joe green and became a Fin fan when I first saw a rookie named Dan Marino play. Been a die hard FinFan ever since.
