Free agent DB Ty Law news

Free agent DB Ty Law says he's been in conversations with the Patriots and Jets, but the Jets have pursued him more aggressively.

Law "seems eager" to sign on with a team shortly, according to the Boston Globe. He's likely battle David Barrett and Justin Miller to start in New York.

I'll bet they have. In the first place they're throwing alot of money around. They might as well throw some his way. Secondly, I'll bet there's no way they're going to allow NE to outbid them.

Really?..lol..that money tree, it only lasts so long doesn't it? They're going to have to get creative just so they can sign their draft picks, aren't they?

No not really, as soon as we trade Robertson it frees a bunch of money. If we sign Law it will be a cheap deal.

What's the latest that you've heard concerning trading him? How much does he count against the cap?...........and one more..........
Do you think it may be a problem trading him now that everyone knows the Jets don't want/need him anymore? Why not just wait until June 1st and get him for contract only?

Maybe you haven't been paying attention before but, "Ty Law" and "cheap deal" don't work in the same sentence. It doesn't matter how diminished you think Law's skills are - he still thinks he's a great cover corner and can move to safety (he said a few years ago when he's done as a corner he knows he could move to safety for another 3 4 years before he's done) if needbe, and won't come cheap. Obviously he won't be signing for Asante Samuel money, but if you think he's coming for a mil per year - you're insane.

teams are allotted outside of the salary cap to sign draft picks, im not sure exactly how it works, but thats really the only reason why draft picks are paid so much. Oakland hardly had any money last year and look at what jamarcus russell makes now.
