Hobson

How good is this guy ? anyone ?.Today he was leading the huddle and after chad brown and beisel experiment i am skeptical.

Hobson
In making the switch from outside linebacker in the Jets' 3-4 alignment to inside linebacker in the Patriots' 3-4 alignment, sixth-year veteran Victor Hobson will be a player to watch in the ensuing months. If he can pull off the switch, and give the Patriots some quality play at a spot that has traditionally been difficult to fill, he could be one of the NFL's best under-the-radar signings. Hobson was leading the defensive huddle throughout the practice, and there was nothing that stood out physically (e.g. footwork) that would make one think Hobson can't make the move.

He'll add depth to the rotation which I like. He also provides needed speed at the inside spot. I like what we did at linebacker adding youth and speed through the draft and free agency. Hobson's not gonna make anyone forget about Bruschi's prime but he's the type of guy God whoops Belichick brings in and becomes productive.

Hobson will move to inside linebacker

07:17 AM EDT on Friday, May 30, 2008

FOXBORO -- After yesterday’s camp session, head coach Bill Belichick spoke briefly with the media. When asked about free-agent pickup Victor Hobson, Belichick confirmed that the team is moving him to inside linebacker, and seems pleased with what he’s seen so far.
“He had played a lot of outside linebacker the last two years down there (with the Jets). I think he is a smart guy, runs well. He’s got some experience in the system,” Belichick said. “I think he has a good combination of experience, toughness and athleticism to the position.”

From what he was able to show in the Mini Camp He is going to be a great addition and is likely the Starter at ILB next to Bruschi.

He is good, not great.

A hard hitter but not especially fit for the 3-4 (2006/2007) he did better in the 4-3 (2003/2004/2005) where he went from averaging over 75 tackles a season to to about 50.

Of course, the Patriots will turn him into a super star and make us weep.

True. But he also played OLB in the 3-4 and Belichick will move him to ILB. Allegedly he's a much better fit inside than outside in the 3-4. Time will tell.
