Huard says he tried to get title-bound Pats to sign Marino

By Harvey Fialkov

Posted November 10 2006

DAVIE · Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard, who backed up Dan Marino with the Dolphins from 1997-99, said he almost got his golfing pal the Super Bowl ring he's always wanted.

Although he threw one incomplete pass in three seasons, Huard earned two Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots while backing up Tom Brady from 2001-03. "Brady got hurt in the Pittsburgh game, the AFC Championship [in 2001-02], and I did lobby to Coach [Bill] Belichick that if Tom wasn't ready to go, we should go sign Dan to get him on the roster so we could get him a Super Bowl ring," Huard said via conference call Wednesday.

Too bad Belichick couldn't have signed him poor Dan would have his ring.

Dan would never had done this....it just goes to show you that getting a SB ring doesn't make you great.
