Kraft vents over tape-says Pats will be cleared

PALM BEACH, Fla. - Robert Kraft came out swinging yesterday when pressed about the lingering questions surrounding his team’s videotaping practices. The Patriots [team stats] chairman and CEO all but dared Matt Walsh to come forward and put his cards on the table.
Kraft doesn’t believe the former Pats video assistant has any damaging evidence against his team. Talking for the first time yesterday since the Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, it sounded a lot like Kraft was calling Walsh’s bluff.
ā€œWhy is he reticent to talk? I don’t know?ā€ said Kraft, who drew a large media gathering. ā€œI don’t believe there’s anything to it. I’m looking forward to him speaking, and hopefully cleaning this up and completely exonerating us. It’s kind of strange that six or seven years after . . . I know ourselves and the NFL have done everything we can do to help his lawyers have him speak.ā€

Didn't they admit to it earlier last year? I find it hard to believe that some Walsh guy was doing all this without BB knowing (who supposedly knows everything that's going on within the franchise) and this slipped by him? Hard to believe.

Notice the bolded line. Further proof video taping was more common than most want to admit.

If Walsh doesn't have evidence, let's move on

Basically what Belichick seems to be saying is: If Walsh really had a tape, don't you think he would have produced it by now? Don't you think it would have been on 60 Minutes or a comparable news show?

And there might be something to that.

As part of my job with FOX Sports, I was in the Superdome on the Saturday in question. The Rams were in their game uniforms, running around and generally relaxing waiting to take their team photo for the Super Bowl. There were wooden risers on the field. There were times when I was on the field actually talking to Kurt Warner and other players and some of the teams' executives that I have known for more than 20 years.
If there was a walk-through that day, it was the most disorganized one ever assembled. Many of the players were there to simply unwind and relax and test out the carpet. And don't forget, the Rams were very familiar with the Superdome because the Saints were still in their division. They had played there during the regular season.
What I do remember of that week was that Rams coach Mike Martz was extremely nervous about practicing at the Saints' facility because he feared Jim Haslett and his staff would be taping his practices. He wanted their coaches removed from the building. That didn't happen, but all of the windows that faced the practice field had their drapes closed. Remember, this was a time when Haslett, now the Rams defensive coordinator, and Martz really didn't get along. There was a real rivalry between the two and their teams. So yes, Martz was concerned about being videotaped, but it was by the Saints' staff, not the Patriots.

Kraft must have alot of money that made it into Walsh's pockets. I think we can all agree that wouldn't be to suprising. Let's be honest..Walsh has evidence. There is nobody in their right mind who would say they had something and didn't just because. Kraft is sneaky like the government.

Yeah lets be honest. Where is the evidence? Why haven't we seen the evidence? There is no confidentiality agreement clause with the patriots. Interesting...it seems the commisioner is starting to get a bit pissed off and if walsh doesn't come forward soon he's contemplating taking legal action on behalf of the league to clear the slate.

I know Kraft must have paid off the commisioner too.

Goodell on Walsh issue

PALM BEACH, Fla., -- The NFL’s annual meeting concluded this morning with commissioner Roger Goodell holding a press conference, where he addressed the latest on the Matt Walsh issue.
Here is some of the Q&A:
If you can’t come to a resolution that leads to Matt Walsh speaking, are you comfortable moving on from it?
ā€œNo, I don’t like anybody putting out accusations against the league or any of our clubs, which he certainly implied, if he hadn’t said. I’ve said from the beginning of this incident that if something new or additional that comes to public or to me, that I reserve the right to reopen this issue, and I will. But the reality of it, we haven’t had any, for seven months. If it’s just taping of defensive signals, we know that. The Patriots admitted to that. He seems to imply that he has something different and certainly something that I would be concerned with if it’s true. So I’d like to see the evidence.ā€
If it gets to the point where nothing is happening, would you be the one to say ā€˜that’s enough’ and perhaps explore some legal options -- if there are any?
ā€œI believe I would be, yes, and at some point I will run out of patience, because I think it’s unfortunate. I think the last time he was a Patriots employee was back in the early 2000s, so we’re talking about six, seven or eight years since he left the league. I would like to have that information. He’s certainly made it known publicly that he has something. I’d like to see him present that.ā€
So you’re committed to getting this information?
ā€œI believe it’s important when somebody has made an accusation like this, I think it’s important for us to get to the bottom of it. We’re going to aggressively pursue that as long as I think there is some information there, or I believe I can get to the bottom of it, and that’s what I’m going to do.ā€

Un-real. This is what we've been sayin the whole time. If nothing comes out of this, you'll claim it was some conspiracy. If something did come out then you'd want the Patriots sent to the CFL. I guess Kraft paid off Cam Cameron to suck last year too right?

Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it. Kraft has supposedly payed off the commisioner, Walsh (which I would think his Attorney too) the enitre Patriots video dept and who knows who else. I'd think it would have just been cheaper and eaiser to pay off Specter.

The way I've heard it, Walsh, whether you believe he has anything new that will lead to reopening the Spygate investigation or not, wants guaranteed immunity against slander charges or law suits that arise from breaking a confidentiality clause he claims he signed when employed by the Patriots.

Recently Kraft stated he knew nothing of this clause Walsh says he signed that holds him to keeping his mouth shut when it came to in house Pats business.

Who knows what is fact? All I've heard is that Walsh has his legal people working on a deal with the NFL that keeps him safe from any sort of retaliation form the Patriots org. ( or who ever else), if he comes forward with information that was supposed to be confidential and never see the light of day.

Kraft and Goodell both claim that they would like to see what Walsh has. That its time for him to "put up or shut up".

This can be accomplished very easily. Let the NFL, Kraft and the Patriots organization, or any other powers that be that may have some sword hanging over Walsh's head, make a public statement that guarantees he will not be sued or prosecuted if he comes forward with whatever it is he claims to have.

Why the fudge haven't they done this already if they are so sure Walsh is talking BS? It would be easy enough to blow him out of the water and discredit him if he was. It would also prove they have no fear of anything he may say.

A main reason the Pats have to be pissed about Spygate is the fact that they no longer have the #31 pick in this year's draft. There will be top-tier guys still available at that pick that must be on the Pat's radar, such as Dan Connor, Brandon Flowers, Kenny Phillips, etc. We all know how the Pats hate spending money on early draft picks, and will probably trade down, but if they still had #31, they would definitely have been sitting pretty in the draft.

It's very easy why he isn't getting what he wants, because if he comes forward and says stuff that isn't true, the Pats want to be able to sue him. So he knows that whatever he says, he needs to make sure he has 100% proof for it in a court of law. Obviously, in the court of public opinion it doesn't matter any - he hasn't even spoken and everybody's already proclaimed him Jesus and everything he says (and what's rumored that he knows) must be true - but in the court of law he needs to prove it. THAT'S why he hasn't spoken. Clearly, if there is an agreement (which I doubt, since Kraft came out and said there was no way an agreement, and Walsh/Levy has yet to dispute that), Walsh would have a copy of that. So why wouldn't he fax a copy over to the NY Times or something?

He's prolly waiting on a payoff figure from Kraft to keep his mouth shut.

As soon as Kraft and Belicheat open their mouths we know one thing...they are lying. Nobody outside of Patriot nation believes that they are telling the truth. The only difference between Kraft and Belicheat is that Kraft at least smiles when he lies.
