Locker Room Split On Favrehttp://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/...plit-on-favre/
"As quarterback Brett Favre begins his career as a member of the New York Jets, the guys who already were on the team aren’t yet waving the pom-poms in unison. Per Bob Glauber of Newsday, one player said that “a significant portion of the team” was not in favor of scuttling Chad Pennington. And players loyal to Pennington were upset to see Pennington cast aside so abruptly."

Mike Florio is anti-NY jet, everything he writes is a negative slant on the Jets and he always takes shots. i don't know what they did to him but I don't take him seriously anymore w/ reagrds to the Jets. Chad was a very popular teammate so of course there was going to be mixed emotions.

Mike Florio is accurate about 10 percent of the time.....
It's hard for me to believe that bringing in Brett Favre would divide the Jets locker room. We're not talking about some criminal like Michael Vick here. Favre can still play and they didn't give up a whole lot for him, thats really all it comes down to.

Chad was always known as a team first guy and a leader in the lockeroom.
Too bad his arm isn't as big as his heart is. Chad had six years to prove his worth on the field. Sadly, injuries robbed him of reaching his full potential. It's time to move on. With that being said, I think this is more instigating by Cimini. The worst of the worst in NY beat reporting. There's no question that the team loves Chad, but when you have the oppurtunity to drastically upgrade the most important position on the field, with not only a good player, but a future HOFer, you do it if the price is right. Why would half our team be pissed about bringing in a QB who holds virtually every record in the books and is still playing at a high level? Mangini and Tannenbaum have preached since day one that they will leave no stone unturned. They want to do everything within their power to put a winning product on the field. |

I think those players saw how Pennington was treated by the jets and thats what pissed them off. It wasn't Farve's fault so I don't know why they would hold it against him. Tannenbaum and the boy wonder Mangina are on the chopping block trying to save their own heads so the made Pennington the sacrifical lamb. Pennington will get his just revenge at years end when those two are sent packing. Farve's not going to save them, his best days are behind him.

Give Pennington chance after chance, year after year until he retires all the while producing the same mediocre results? Like I said, Chad had his time here and that time has passed. Chad has never had a strong arm, but at the beginning of his career atleast it was average. Now it's gotten to the point where his arm strength is a liability that strains the entire offense. I think Chad could succeed going to a team like Minnesota where they have a strong O-line, dominant running game, and stout defense. Not to mention playing in the dome 8 times a year. But there are far too many questions on both the Phins and the Chiefs for him to be anything more than average at best. |

Mort knows allot of big stories and gets chummy with big names but Florio knows all the right people to get all the inside info around the league. He'll tell you if it's just speculation or there isn't allot of support for a rumor. So actually READ what he's posting. Mort quotes him, ESPN quotes him, Mike and Mike quotes him and The Sporting News Quotes him. Just because you don't like what he's saying doesn't make it false. |
