Pats cut Gramatica; rookie to replace Vinatieri

The comeback attempt of kicker Martin Gramatica ended Wednesday when the New England Patriots released the six-year veteran, awarding the job as the successor to departed placement specialist Adam Vinatieri to rookie Stephen Gostkowski.

the are better for sending him packing. As I recall, their last kicker was a rookie once too...and unheralded.

Gramatica- 60% over last two years he played... Didn't play last year... It's bad news for anyone playing the Pats that they didn't keep him...

The Colts "upgraded" their kicking situation by replacing a kicker with a 92% on field goal attempts to one with 66%.

I'll take your word on that because you have got to be an expert by now. Nobody is more aware of what choking sounds like than a Dolphins fan and why not he's heard it every december for many many years.

So this rookie may seem to be good, but can he make a game winning clutch field goal like Adam could? Thats alot of pressure to put on a rookie and especially on a rookie kicker. Is he always calm like AV? Does he think of David Hasselhoff to calm himself at the free throw line?
