Pennington`s Arm

Just had a look on SI.com`s `truth and rumours` section;

`Throwing for the third consectutive day for the first time since undergoing surgery Feb 8 to repair his torn rotator cuff, Jets quarterback Chad Pennington`s arm is clearly weak.And, for the first time, coach Herman Edwards admitted Pennington had "big time" surgery. In the past, the Jets have tried to downplay the extent of Pennington`s surgery, saying he had onlya slight tear and he`ll be ready for the opener no problem` - Newark Star-Ledger.

Good news eh? Pennington can IMO be a decent player and any problems are most welcome. He seems to be a bit injury prone. If he has to take to the bench at any stage then JT and Zach could be taking shots at Fiedler! :evil: :rofl3:

Anyone have any other news on our AFC East foes?

He's coming off major surgery and had not thrown on back to back days since last season. it's understandable he'd be sore and have some problems, luckily we are in early Aug not Sept. Chad is a top QB when healthy and he will be healthy and even at 60-70% he's better than any QB on your roster.

Pennington's arm is very weak by NFL standards when he is 100% healthy.....at 70% he couldn't even throw a 15 yard out.

You better hope he CAN get back to 100%, I heard someone saying that no QB has ever had to come back from this specific kind of surgery.

Him and his weak arm smothered the Dolphins last year. Don't you remember the smashing on MNF (I was there)? No, not the one a few years ago, that we came back and won with a field goal (Boy was THAT harsh) but last year?

Come on... think real hard.

Maybe you should hold off on your laughter till you have a winning season again, or make the playoffs.

his arm strength has always been overblown, no he does not have an Elway rocket but he has always been able to make all the throws he needed to. Do you remember the '02 game w/ the score tied 10-10 in the 4th and the Jets inside their 10 Chad threw a 50 yard bomb to Coles to set up the GW FG? How about last year's playoffs WITH a torn rotator cuff when he made that spectacular pass to Moss? He can make all the throws and his arm is fine.

This is simply wrong.
Every QB can throw the ball up in the air on a bomb. Pennington, however, has always had a weak arm throwing the out pattern. If he is now only at 70% it could be truly frightening. Expect to see a lot of picks returned for TD's as he wobbles the ball out to the flat.

Just watch him play on a regular basis and you'll understand. He can make all the throws, I was recently transferring the Jets at pats from 2002 and he threw an out to Coles that was as perfect a pass that has ever been thrown in the NFL. The defender was all over him and Chad had little room to zip it in but he got it there.

Chad threw a ball 55 yards with a Torn labrum last year in San Diego...And BLITZ, why did you steal someone's quote on here and posted it over at TGG? Can't think of anything on your own?

I'm just wondering which game he smothered us with, cause the first game he was 14/24 143 yrds and int. Then the monday night game he 11/19 for 189 yrds and 3 tds. I do see the 3 tds but nothing shows me he had a great arm in those games. You ran all over the Phins for 230yrds and whipped us but you must admit, Pennington has a weak arm. He is accurate and gets things done if he has zero pressure on him. If he feels any pressure his arm shows its weakness. But he is still better than both QBs on our roster.
