Police are putting it to the Bills

OL Christian Gaddis, WR Steve Johnson, and rookie WR James Hardy (now the 2nd incident he has been involved in since drafted. Pulled a gun on his father)... have been subpoenaed to testify in front of the grand jury... b/c they are believed to have been in the car during Lynch's hit and run. And they werent the only ones subpoenaed. So was, get this... RALPH WILSON!

You can be sure that the 90 year old owner of the Bills is PISSED that he has been dragged into this situation now, b/c Marshawn Lynch has been basically thumbing his nose at DA investigation. And Ralph definitely has heard the real version of what happened that night by now. Now way the owner doesnt get the story by a week later. So if he testifies... the DA now has the real story.

Also, the players are now going to be put in a very tough situation where they are going to have to either rat out their teammate (which could create issues in the lockerroom)... or possibly face purgery charges.

This is bad news all around for the Bills... which of course... means its great news for the Fins...

RALPH WILSON TO BE SUBPOENAED?
Posted by Mike Florio on June 12, 2008, 8:07 p.m.
The investigation into the hit-and-run incident involving the vehicle owned by Bills running back Marshawn Lynch has official gone from “unusual” to “downright freaking bizarre.”
According to the Buffalo News, Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark expects to subpoena three Bills players, three team officials, and chief operating officer Russ Brandon.
And Ralph Wilson. Yeah, that Ralph Wilson. The ninety-something-year-old owner of the team.
The players to be subpoenaed are rookie wide receivers James Hardy and Steve Johnson, and second-year offensive lineman Christian Gaddis.
So what does Wilson know about an automobile accident that occurred in the wee hours of May 31? Nothing, directly. But assuming that at some point in the past two weeks Wilson or some other team official has asked Lynch point blank whether Lynch was driving the car and Lynch told Wilson or some other team official that he was, such statements could be used against Lynch in court.
Though some might think that such a statement would not be admitted because it is hearsay, the reality is that anything a party to a civil or criminal action says out of court can be introduced against the party at trial. The thinking is that, if the person putting words in the party’s mouth is wrong, the party can get on the witness stand and say, “That’s not what I said.”
Still, the notion of nonagenarian being grilled before a jury about something that Lynch did or didn’t do is as strange as anything we’ve ever heard in all our years of following the NFL.
Meanwhile, here’s a PFTV segment on the issue.

No, no no guys, if you listen to the Bills fans, this guy is doing EVERYTHING just right, and we are the problem by talking about it.

Good info by the way!

It certainly wouldn't have been better to just turn himself in the next day (or after the alcohol was out of his system ), and take it like a man, but he's handled it much better.

He's definitely gotten some bad advice and is too immature and young to understand that, IMHO. The guy turned 22 last month and it really shows. Thanks goodness the woman hit wasn't hurt more seriously (according to even the DA it was a pouring rain and she was wearing dark clothes so he may not even have known he hit her), but he's not doing himself or his team any favors here. The right thing to have done was to talk to the police about it the day after, but with the recent suboenae to Wilson and Brandon the DA has taken it to the theater of the absurd level--just plain weird.....

Wilson didn't get subpoenaed, but Chief Operating Officer Russ Brandon did. Still a pretty big fish to get hauled in over what could have been delt with quickly without all this hullabaloo.

The majority of Bills fans feel Lynch would have been wise to deal with it the next day.

As for lawyers and their advise, just because the guy has a degree doesn't mean what he advises is the right course of action. 2nd opinions are always an option, but Lynch was probably scared.

Hopefully Lynch and any other players around the league watching this unfold learn from his mistake.
