Sources: Brady tore ACL and MCLQuote:
http://www.boston.com/sports/footbal...s_brady_t.html For comparison Ronnie Brown tore just his ACL. Daunte Culpepper tore his ACL, MCL and PCL. So, Tom Brady's injury is in between those. From what I have read, a PCL is tear is not as serious as an ACL or MCL tear. Tom Brady will be back next year, but there is a chance we may never seen the same Brady again. He will be 32 at the start of next season, and is coming off a very serious knee injury. Sucks for the Patriots and their fans(I know because I was crushed when Ronnie went down last year). It appears the AFC East may shift to a new team sooner rather than later.

It'll definitely be a problem if he doesn't have the right work ethic when rehabbing. I get the feeling he will treat this properly; Brady isn't a gym rat or anything (well I'm not really sure), but I definitely think he's smart enough to know his responsibilities.
You noticed when Daunte Culpepper played for us, his movement wasn't quite the same. He was not stepping into his throws; his knees were stiff and he was not generating enough power when stepping forward to make his throws. I saw Carson Palmer have the same problem with his mechanics after the injury. It really is more mental IMO; thinking too much about the knee and your mechanics while trying to run a play. We'll see how it turns out for Brady.

Ronnie had just the one ligament torn to his knee so he was able to use a more varied rehab workout which speeds up the rehab. As for Brady, he can still come back and be near heatlhy will little effect to his knee because of the type of QB he is. He's a pocket passer and he doesn't move a in the pocket much, so his game will be basically the same. Half of Daunte's game was his comfort of abandoning the play and running, well that half of his game was no longer an option, at least not so soon and he suffered because of that fact. Tom Brady will be starting week 1 of 09, I'll almost guarantee it. |

I think a better comparison would be Carson Palmer. His injury took place in Jan so it limited the time he had to rehab. Even if he didn't blow out his knee expecting a guy to throw 50 td passes every season is a bit unrealistic. The Dolphins need Henne to develop the Jets are going to be searching for a long-term answer at Qb and the Bills need Edwards to develop before I think the Patriots dominance in the division is over.
Brady at 90% is still probably better than every Qb in the league except maybe Manning. |

I still think that the Pats win the division this year. Cassel will still have a good O-Line in front of him and weapons to throw to. Jets this week will be a huge test for the Pats this week as they get pressure on the QB and they will blitz the Pats hard on Sunday
