The Dolphins will beat the Jets in week 1

I was on another board and Jets fans were talking trash saying how they are going to blow us out in our home opener.. And I made the following post to shut them up.. I will just copy it here-

Don't forget the intense heat and humidity in south florida in early September.. The game is in Miami, remember that.

I also remember in Saban's first year when Miami played Denver in their home opener.. Miami had an AWFUL year the year before and were like 14 point underdogs at home for the home opener........

Well, Miami totally destroyed the Broncos beating them by about 20 points.. The dolphins just manhandled the more talented Bronco team that day.. Many Bronco players mentioned after the game how they were totally worn out by the middle of the 3rd quarter because the humidity was just unbearable..

Keep in mind that the Jets usually come to Miami in around week 12 or later, when it's a lot cooler.. This year, it's week 1 in early september, and it's a 1 o'clock game when it's ridiculously hot.. I remember the last time the Jets came to Miami for Miami's home opener, it was in 1995 or something with Marino, and the Dolphins won 52-14 ( I was at that game in the scorching heat burning my butt off).

Miami Dolphins players have been practicing in this humidity every day. And it has to be looked at as an advantage for an early September game in Miami.. Ask the Broncos

My roommate is a Jets fan and I keep telling him Miami is going to beat the Jets in Week 1 anyway, its just even funnier now that Pennington is the one thats going to do it.

I'm a Bills fan but I'm cheering for the Dolphins

For some reason - this Miami team is going to be fun to watch this year

Pennington, Ginn, Wilford, Ricky, Torbor, New Oline, no Jason

crazy!

How many wins did that lead to last year?

That's a joke right? Ginn and Wilford have yet to prove themselves they can keep a starting job. Pennington just signed here, he still needs to learn the playbook and we still haven't seen him on the field; trust me, there's a reason why the Jets' just released him the way they did instead of getting some sort of compensation for the guy.

I get the feeling we will be finding out soon why they didn't want him.

If we could win just six games this year, and two of those are vs. Jets,I'll be ecstatic with our progress....and the direction we're heading.

As much as I hate the smelly fish, I kinda hope they win that game, just to shut the media up about Favre and the Jets. Then of course I hope they lose out and put together another fantastic 1-15 season.

Hard to work out a trade with the size of the contract Pennington had in 1 day. They had to do something with him before 4pm. Im pretty confident Pennington can learn enough of the playbook over the next 3 weeks to beat out McClown and Beck. Sadly, the rook is the only one capable of putting up a fight.

I do not expect it to be easy, I do expect to win but I don't think we are definitely going to win or that Miami has no shot. I thought your chances went up when w got Favre since he only had about a month to get ready but now you guys are int he same boat w/ Chad though I'd give Chad the egde to be ready quicker b/c he has been through some system changes and is a fast learner. When I do get worried I think about who Chad has to throw the ball to and who is going to stop our O? If Ricky & Ronnie have a big game then you guys will have a good chance but we will be determined to stop the run w/ no fear of the pass b/c of your lack of WRs and defensively you lost your 2 best players and need others to really step up. We'll see what happens, it will be a fun game regardless.

One advantage I can see going Miami's way is the difference between Pennington and Favre, Favre is a gun-slinger where Pennington is more of a mythodical game manager. If we can get the running game going Pennington should be able to hit some short stuff, screens etc. Either way it should be a fun game to watch.

I like your optimism....

I guess that means that when the Dolphins visit the Jets in December they will be beaten because its cold??

Actually pal, I've flown down for the last 6 season openers in Miami and the Phins have lost the last couple.

Against Houston, against Tennessee, against Buffalo and against Dallas.

The team needs to be decent along with the weather being hot. You can't just say the Jets will lose b/c of the heat.
