How did I do?? 12 team standard scoring...I started the Gore or Moss thread yesterday...In the end I went with Moss. If Moss TD production is cut in half he will have 12 TDs; if Gore doubles his TD production he will have 12 TDs.
But then not only did I take Moss, I took Fitz coming back in the second. And I think it worked out!! Only two runningbacks went off the board from the time I took Fitz, until it came back to me. Then I took Maurice Jones Drew. Heres my squad what do you think?? # in () is round selected. Note: Passing TD=4, Rushing/Receiving TD=6, NO PPR. QB-McNabb (7), Eli Manning (10) RB-Maurice Jones Drew (3), Thomas Jones (4), Ricky Williams (8), Chris Johnson (9), Steve Slaton (15) WR-Randy Moss (1), Larry Fitzgerald (2), Calvin Johnson (5), Devin Hester (11), Chris Henry (12), David Patten (13) TE-Jeremy Shocky (6) Def-NY Giants (14) K-Rob Bironas (16)

Correction: 3 runningbacks went from the time I took Fitz in the second. Until I took MJD in the third.
Jamal Lewis, Micheal Turner, and Brandon Jacobs. For me the difference in the WR I would have gotten with my third pick is greater than the difference between the 3 runningbacks I missed out on.

looking back is always easy. I'm a strong proponent of taking RB first- they have the greater chance of scoring fantasy points with every touch. With that said and seeing that in your draft, Fitz was there in the second round, you definitely should've taken Gore.
If you take Gore and Moss stays on the board, the chances would've even been better that Fitz would've been there on your 3rd pick. And you probably would've still ended up with MJD, Jones and/or Williams. In the end, it comes down to what you consider a stronger FF team; One that's heavy on RBs or WRs? I think Gore, Fitz, MJD is stronger than Moss, Fitz, MJD. |

I know for a fact Moss would have been gone before it got back to me. The guy picking 12th was hoping to pair Moss and Brady.
Not to mention Gore went the next pick. Followed by a TO, two picks later Braylon Edwards, and Reggie Wayne right before I picked Fitz. So If I would have taken Gore. My first three would have been.....Gore, Andre Johnson, and MJD

Or if I would have stuck with Moss, and followed up with a RB..
Moss, Jamall Lewis, MJD/Greg Jennings/Roy Williams.

No need to second guess yourself you did a nice job. I'd give you an A for that team, especially in a competitive league, which I think you said it was $400 entry fee, if so the guys should know there stuff. Waited on QB and still got quality, McNabb when healthy puts up numbers second only to Brady and P.Manning. Assuming he plays 13 games or so Eli is a capable fill in for the others, the Giants aren't as good this year and will be trailing more and need to pass. You could very well end up with 3 of the top 10 WR's at year end, CJ is that type of talent. RB is down a little but MJD is under rated IMO and Jones is the man to get the carries, if Farve can open things up a little he should be servicable. I like the upside on Chris Johnson and Slaton. Watch Bironas, I heard he is still hurt and not practicing, kickers can go from top 5 to cut in a hurry.
I'd call this a nice example of Value Based Drafting, draft the guy by the best value on the board instead of getting caught in runs. |

I was just explaining myself I never second guessed. I had been pretty set on Moss for awhile and had been strongly considering WR, WR. IMO with more teams going to the two-runningback-system, it has made the runningback crop thin causing many people picking late in the first round to reach on a mediocre RB. The two runningback system also makes it easy to find good RBs later in the draft. Not to mention in standard leagues you start 3 WRs every week and only 2 runningbacks.
I got stuck picking 8th this year (the lastest I have picked in my leagues 5 yr existance). And it was easy to see picking early gave you a huge advantage. The teams before me had the oppurtunity to pick "cornerstone" type RBs. And for me I just wasnt convinced Gore was one those (although he could be). So I was ready to mix things up a bit going WR, WR. And it cause a huge run on recievers (just like I planned). So the runningback I got in the third had equal value, as the runningback I would have gotten in the second. And at that point I decided I would load up on runningbacks in the middle round, figuring one or two of them would work out.

Alittle bit of a bump...But also who should I start at RB week 1. If the hurricane is getting close it could be a wet sloppy game in Miami (hard to pass, lots of running). So right now im leaning Ricky and T Jones.
Also it is said that Chris Johnson is going to split carries with LenDale White. And Im not sure the legal status with Fred Taylor so MJD could get the bulk of the carries. Who else is going to get the carries in Houston?? It might be Slaton by process of elimination. Its starting to look like Ill have good depth at RB. Anyways heres the match ups. Ricky home against the Jets. T Jones on road against Miami. MJD at Tennesse. Chris Johnson on road against Tennesse. Slaton at home against Pittsburg.
