Not a bad team, me thinks

12 team league, standard scoring (6pts all TDs, no PPR), starting 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, TE, K, DST.

I"m thinkin' I kicked ***. Anyone see where I can improve?

Starters/overall draft position

Big Ben 15

J. Addai 10
Ricky Williams 39

Roy Williams 34
A. Bolden 63
L. Coles 82

O. Daniels 106
Titans DST 135
D. Carpenter 159

Bench/overall draft postion

L. White 58
R. White 87
D. Hagan 111 have since dropped and picked up B. Marshall!!
J. Russell 130 have since dropped and picked up K. Warner
C. Johnson 154

Yeah, baby! To be honest, I'm a bit embarrassed to be on a league where an owner actually released B. Marshall on waivers after the draft! Also, embarrassing is Boldin was around in the 6th round! but, it's fantasy football and it looks like by week 3, this WR heavy fantasy league will be burned by HotGates amazing reciever core.

Interesting team, not horrible but from what I am seeing I wonder if you could have put together a drop dead awesome team.

I'd be interested to see the draft, Addai falling to the 10 is much farther then I have seen him drop anywhere. Big Ben in the early 2nd round ? Ben is pretty much the consensus #6 fantasy QB so to justify that pick you had 5 QB's go in the top 13 picks ? If so a second stud RB or one of the elite WR's would have been there for your taking. Your RB depth scares me, Ricky will be ok to start the season but once Brown is back and they start splitting carries you lack depth. If you could have coupled Addai with a Lynch/Portis type in the 2nd round then taken McNabb or Cutler later at QB you would be sitting sweet. I'm not as high on Boldin as some because of his fued with management but that is a personal feeling, you got 3 solid WR's from the 2nd tier.

You definitely reached on several picks. You are weak at RB for sure.

SwamDawg,

very strong help with that response. You're assumptions on our draft are dead on.

Yes, all top QBs were gone by pick 15 when I took Big Ben. I suppose I could've done what you suggested; B Edwards and R Wayne were there at 15 but both Cutler and McNab along with Favre Anderson and Palmer were gone before my next pick at 34 overall.

Of all the QBs that went in that part of draft I only like Cutler and Big Ben. If you recall, Anderson already had the concussion, 85 and Housh were already hurt at the time dropping Palmer, McNab only had Curtis at the time which didn't impress me, Favre on new team not better than Big Ben and even though I like Culter, at the time B Marshall would be out for a 3 games. So, at first blush, waiting on QB sounds good but, what about after all those considerations?

As for the Ricky pick, you got real close on that one too. Lynch was exactly the RB that went just before I took Ricky! I'm looking at the results now and between 39 and 58 (my next pick) McGahee, MJD, Jacobs, K Smith,T. Jones and believe it or not FWP at #57 was available. I see your point with Ricky maybe sharing carries. I guess I figured it wouldn't be a drastic drop off since Ronnie may be favoring that knee for a while. But, I suppose I would 've been better taking FWP at 39 (I don't like any of the others) then hoping Rickie was there at no 58!! You're right on that.

thanks SwampDawg. good stuff!

I would have taken Lynch at the 15th pick and been happy with two stud RB's and I would have been all over MJD or Jones way before Ricky at the 39. Picking up Marshall will be sweet, you might be able to package a couple WR's and upgrade your RB2.

I've probably done 20 mocks and 2 real drafts in the last month and I haven't seen more then 4 QB's go in the first 2 rounds in any of them and that includes a start 2 QB league and a 14 teamer. i fI was drafting in you league I would probably have had 3 RB's in the first 4 rounds.

Why did you draft sooo many Fins?? I try and keep my heart out of fantasy football as much as possible.

The Hagan pick at 111 is practically a reach regardless of who you pick. there were only 2 WRs taken between 112 and my next pick at 130; Stallworth and Bruce. I needed a 4th WR, it was slim pickens, Bruce too old with poor QB and I prefer Penny over Anderson so I took Hagan. keep in mind, at the time we already new Anderson had a concussion.

And the Carpenter pick was simply becuase the guy can kick AND he's a Dolphin. He's a big guy that has shown big kicks and he kicked in the snow in Montana. My first preference was Crosby but, he went at pick 99 and I wasn't about to pass on Roddy White (pick 87) to draft a kicker!

by the way, the Hagan pick is moot anyway because i was able to get B Marshall off waivers today so I dropped Hagan.
