I think its a good deal for you. With the two older players (Johnson for Cotchery) you'll be upgrading in talent. A. Johnson is much better, bigger WR. He is injury prone but that could change and he is a beast! Meanwhile, Cotchery may have a good year with Favre (he might not) but, in the end word is his Jets team is headed for disaster along with Mangini and the GM. Former Oakland personnel man, Michael Lombardi was interviewed locally here in Miami this weekend and he says he expects the Jets to finish 4th in the division. If they don't breakout this year, they're done.
The young WRs (Holmes and Ginn) it is a tough choice but, I think in the long run its advantage Ginn for several reasons. Ginn is a bit younger, he has blazing speed and could be very valuable depending on how your league scores special teams players. The QB situation in Miami has more upside than with the Jets and that helps the Ginn trade. After Favre (one year) the Jets have no one (Clemens is weak). After Pennington (maybe 2 or 3 yrs) the 'phins have Henne (outstanding upside). Also, keep in mind, Holmes has been on some good Steeler teams with a pro-bowl QB and he's still at best a no. 2 WR. Although I read that you can count on getting 2pts per catch from Holmes on average, I had him on my fantasy team last year and there was only one game that I wished I had started him. You also need to consider the impact Sweed will have on Holmes in the long run. Sweed is bigger and will catch TDs in red zone. Another reason to like the trade is that you get a third player who is a beast, McFadden. The rookie had 34 carries for 180yds in preseason. That's damn good, I think. You could look at the trade as Cotchery for Johnson and Holmes for Ginn and McFadden. A young RB in a Dynasty league is key. Ginn and Mcfadden will more than compensate for Holmes in the long run. |

In a dynasty league I would have done that as well, McFadden's upside trumps everything else. Johnson is an upgrade over Cotchery (although I think Cotchery has a very good year), Ginn is a downgrade over Holmes but one worth taking to get a talent like McFadden for the future.
