I think Billy Beane is the smartest person in sports. Though I didn't get the Harden deal. His philosophy is to build a team that is successful over 162 games not 5 or 7 game series. So I don't fault there playoff failures. I know there small market but how many teams that have a legitimate shot would trade an ace in the middle of the year. The only thing that I question about some of the A's teams from the past is how good was the team he built, or were they all just roiders.

I know Homer Bailey has fallen off since the hype from last year but he's still got the potential to be an above average starter. Beane was reportedly offered Bailey for Blanton but said no. Which I don't get.

And i don't trust Manny over 162 games (contract year or not). They are affraid to trade Coco now because the front office is affraid Elisbury can't hold up for 162.

BOSTON is a team BUILT for a 5 or 7 game series. But to get their they gotta go through 162. I'm not sure they can get there through a tough AL schedule.

Hey they can prove me wrong, that's why they play the games
you mean at almost every point you tried to make? yes, they can...

If it's an all Chicago world series and if the White Sox win I think they'll be the first team boo'd during a victory parade. The big prize on the market could end up being Teixera. Tampa Bay is the team that I think may try to make a big move. Though I see the other leaders making smaller moves. Maybe Boston tries to grab a SS.

Before the season started I thought the DBacks would be the best team in the NL. Though that division is awful. Still in a short series they're a tough out because of Haren and Webb. Watching Mark Mulder pitch was painful. Boston Gammons said it best "he looked like he was right-handed trying to throw left-handed.

Even with the deals that were made guys like David Price and Francisco Liriano I think will have a big impact on the race.

here's the thing about the D-Backs, they are relying so heavily on young guys for offense. Jackson,Hairston,Drew,Upton, and Young all have 3 years or less of experience. Year the Quenton trade doesn't look good now, but oh well.

Point is, With Haren and Webb, they'll be favored in atleast 2 games most of the time.

Yanks get Nady and Marte for next to nothing. Should help them down the stretch and next year when Abreu leaves.

Abreu might not be gone. If they can move Matsui who will be going into the final year of his deal......they will keep Abreu.

How close is the Jackson kid to being ML ready? an outfield of Abreu, Nady and Jackson would be awesome, assuming he pans out. And any word on when we can look for Brackman?

The one thing that would concern me about Marte is that he had a 6.20 ERA on the road. When he was with the White Sox a few years ago he forgot how to pitch and couldn't be counted on. He gives the Yankees a LH reliever which are valuable. I guess the Yankees fit the bill as a veteran team that warms up with the weather.

Firing Willie Randolph maybe the move of the year. Though I don't trust Wagner. Somebody is going to pay Oli Perez after the year but he's way too inconsistent to be trusted also. It's a shame the NL West has to send a team to the playoffs.

Wagner is awful. Always good for a quote, but he is an awful closer. Perez stinks I wouldn't pay him. But a young leftie......he will get a good deal from some sucker GM.

The races down the stretch are going to be great. Though if teams like Minnesota, Tampa, Arizona, Milwaukee, and the Marlins make the playoffs and advance far I don't think it'll grab fans outside of those teams.

Arizona might win their division by default.

Minny and Tampa will die off.

Marlins are up against 2 giant payrolls who will do something between now and Thursday, don't like their chances.

The Brewers are a feel good story, I would like to see them go far.

I-Rod to the Yanks for Farnsworth is a done deal. The Yanks catchers might not be able to hit a lick, but you ain't running on them too much

Looks like Manny to the Marlins for Hermidea and a bunch of kids will get done as well
