Henne I think sometimes gets a bum rap. What people need to understand is Michigan relied so heavily on Mike Hart during their time in Ann Arbor. I am serious when I say I can not count how many games I'd see Henne throw a TD pass early in the game, and then the rest of the game they'd just pound the ball. I also think he's a great leader as every game since his freshmen year when he needed to step up, he'd step up. This didn't always result in wins, but there was never a moment while he was in college that I never trusted him to get the job done. YOu also have to realize that Michigan's offense was so outdated and vanilla that his stats aren't spectacular. He pretty much had 3 passes called for him in Ann Arbor; deep pass to Manningham, screen to Breaston, and the throw it up in the air and let Braylon go get it (my favorite play right there). Had we had a coaching staff that was actually committed to S&C and developing QBs I think Chad could've been a top 10 pick (and I'm serious). However, because of where he was at in his development I felt he was behind Ryan,Brohm, and Flacco on the QB chart. Had we drafted him at 32, I would've been ticked.

As for Jake, he's probably gonna go down as one of the greatest offensive linemen to wear the maize and blue. He struggles a bit against the speed rush, but it's not like he's consistently had people blow by him (even Gholston, who he has pancaked in the past). Part of the reason he struggles against the speed is the Big 10 does not have many pure speed rushers (the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Aaron Maybin who is a backup at PSU, you could also put Mo Evans in that catagory but he has a lot of moves). He's a very disciplined OT who had not been penalized since his freshmen year, and he's nasty. I honestly felt that whoever got him would be very happy with what they got.

I dunno about that. Katzenmoyer was really really dumb. He was incapable of learning a playbook. Little Animal is a very smart defender, but I dunno how he'd do in our defense since he does tend to struggle shedding blocks (something he'd have to deal with a lot has a 3-4 ILB), and he can struggle a bit in space (see Illinois game last year going up against Mendenhall), but the space thing isn't a huge deal. If he can improve on shedding blocks he'll be up their with Mauluga IMO.

good stuff. i agree i also had brohm ryan and flacco ahead of henne coming out.

as far as laurinitus i see a guy who for all his talent should make more plays behind the line of scrimmage. when i watch him i see an awful lot of channing crowder type tackling...that is 3-5 yards downfield tackling. pretty talented d around him where's the big plays???

mauluga imposes his will. would put an identity on this d next year.

I don't even follow Gator football, but I do know that the team Henne beat was not nearly as loaded as the team that beat OSU.

As a lifelong Bucks fan, I am pulling for Troy to start in Baltimore. From what I understand, he has the "unofficial" backing of the veterans on that team. I also seem to remember him making some plays against the Dolphins in that game last year. So many, in fact, that I was getting sick to my stomach as I watched it.

As a lifelong Dolphin fan, I want to see Henne finally be the guy that can be the future for us at the position.

Both extremely talented players.
