The after June 1st cap rule...

Okay, so the previous rule was something like this: After June 1st, you could cut a player and push the so called Dead Cap money over two years. Due to the new CBA, hasn't this rule changed? Doesn't the team have a bigger dead cap number in year one vs year two (assuming said player is released after June 1st? This is all especially relevant given the state of affairs with Daunte. Fair assumption is that he gets released after June 1st (if the old rule is still in effect)...

The after June 1st rule is still the same except since last year trades also comply with this rule.

Players released or traded on or before June 1st have all unamortized bonus charged to Team Salary in the current year.

Players released or traded after June 1st have all unamortized bonus charged in the next year.

Remember the current portion of amortized bonus stays charged for the year.

No. Those traded or released after June 1st have the "current" amoritized charged for this year...and then the "rest" of the amoritized counts next year.

So with the breaking news about Culpepper's injury being worse than originally uncovered by the LIAR Nick Saban...Culpepper will most likely not only clear the $1mil that was mentioned by some...but he would actually clear $4.5mil if traded or released after June 1st.

So if/when we aquire Green, look for Culpepper NOT to be "immediately" released. But to be released "after" June 1st to clear more money.

Plus, it would give us a chance to gauge his rehab status. Which could either woo a trade partner or even give us an option to keep him as well....only "if" Green's contract is restructured in a way that "if" he is the backup, he doesn't count more than a backup's salary.

So options are looking not too bad.

I think you guys are saying the same thing, but anyway, my next question is the impending grievance that DC would be filing. If there's an injury settlement, how would that effect the cap numbers previously discussed?

An injury settlement is charged to Team Salary. It does not affect any other numbers.

A player is due his salary for the year of injury only. The Club does have to provide any medical and hospital care required.
