Last year Ginn had 24 punt returns with 1 td
and 18 Kick returns with 1 td

2005 he had
25 punt returns with 1 td
18 kick off returns with 1 td

I n the last 2 years he has had 85 returns and 4 tds against college competition...All I'm saying is people are placing way to much expectations on this guy...He is human and by the numbers the last 2 years he's not going to bring it to the house like so many of you believe.

I hope he does but I have more realistic expectations than most of you

If this is what people are calling the X factor we need XXX factor

Its also about field position too. Cameron didnt say he will take it to the house all the time he just stated a punt return is like another offensive down because Ginn can pick mass amounts of yardage with his insane speed. Welker last year sucked on kick returns and was adequate on punt returns, I belive Ginn will be much better thus leading to better field position.
Also im angry because i want to hear Cam talk more about how hes is goin to use Tedd on offense, i kno we want to get him the ball with room to run but his main focus has been about his return skills lately its maid me a lil un easy!

And 90% of the time, teams kick away from him giving OSU great field position! It's called "research"..... look into it!

Let's not give the rest of the NFL a clue as to how we'll use T.D. Ted!

Hester didn't have a mass amount of return TD's at the college level either. I don't think anyone will ever have anyother season returning kicks like Hester did last year though (including Hester himself)

In college though they did kick away from him very often, which can result in great field position with bad punts etc. but also less TD's.

Ted Ginn, with a little bit of luck, has the potential to be the worst #1 pick in the history of the Dolphins. And that definitely is saying something because we've been bad a looooong time!

If Quinn develops into a solid Quarterback abd Beck's a bust, we might have something special here with Ginn.

Everybody gushes about Ginn's speed. How he instantly accelerates to top speed in a flash... very exciting right?

I'm not saying we shouldn't have drafted Ginn. Like Randy said: "we need speed" and I think he would have been a value pick in the 4th or 5th round!

Crazy? Let's take a look without rose-colored glasses:

He's hurt. How hurt? Something called a "Lis Franc" mid foot sprain. Mueller assured everyone he'll recover before camp starts in July. How does he know? Our team doctors assured him of this. THE SAME TEAM DOCTORS THAT ASSURED US THAT CULPEPPER WAS FINE AND AHEAD OF SHEDULE!!!!
The problem with this injury is it can be reaggravated at anytime! He's gonna play wide receiver in the NFL! Think there's a chance it could happen again? Kevin Jones , starting running back for the Detroit Lions, has the Lis Franc injury and they say his career is in jeopardy!

Ginn is small and skinny! Comparisons have been made illogically to Steve Smith of the Panthers and Sanatan Moss of the Redskins because their small and fast. Wrong they're not small they're short. Both possess compact muscular bodies with big calves and legs and they're physically superstrong for their size. Ginn small and skinny!

College production: this is where the rubber meets the road. This is why Randy gets all lathered up when he sees Ginn's highlights on YouTube.
Let's look at Teddy's stats: 59 receptions - 13.2 yards a catch, 1 kick return for TD, 1 punt return for TD. Are these awesome stats? No, actually there quite pedestrian. Anthony Gonzalez, the "other" Buckeye receiver, drafted by the Colts @ 32 had 51 receptions - 14.4 yards a catch. Gonzalez is nowhere near as fast but he's 20 pounds heavier and his pass receiving stats were similar to Ginn. And he's not injured.
Another comparison: Robert Meacham.
He went 27th in the draft (do you think we could have traded down to 27 and picked up a coplue of picks?)
6'3 211 had 71 receptions for 1298 yards averaging 18.3 yards per catch - ran a 4.4 at the combine.
Ginn- 51 catches 13.2 yards per catch vs. Meacham 71 catches 18.3 yards per catch.

I know college stats can be misleading at times and our pick last year Hagans is an example, but given Ginn's lack of size, injury status, and "so/so" college production, what can we really expect from him?

Taking him @ 9 was a tremendous reach and when you add the Brady Quinn factor, and all the other guys you could have gotten and extra draft picks, this could be one of the bad 1 picks for the ages.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong because I love my Dolphins

The Texans were going to take him at #10 so I don't see why it is a reach. Also Daunte WAS ahead of schedule, just not ready to start the season.

a value in the 4th round....im sorry but that threw off your WHOLE argument because he was a 1st rounder with or without the injury and without the injury everybody would be running him to Miami ANYWAY like they were doing 3 months ago

Alright a 4th's a little low and I want him to make me eat my words, , but check out his college production when he was healthy. Other than YouTube, what scrams out "can't miss" 9th pick in the draft? I can't define "hype" but I know it when I see it!

I agree.

Ginn's six punt returns for touchdowns are two shy of the NCAA Division 1-A record of eight that is shared by Wes Welker of Texas Tech.

Wes Welker had better stats...and he didn't have 4.2 speed. and Welker was undrafted.
