    Who was the last?

I was just sitting here thinking...

Who was the last sitting US Senator that ran for President and won?

    Bush#43; Governor of Texas
    Clinton; Governor of Arkansas
    Bush#41; Vice President
    Reagan: Governor of California
    Carter; Governor of Georgia
    Ford; Vice President
    Nixon; Former Vice President
    Johnson; Vice President
    Kennedy; Not sure
    Eisenhower; General of the Army
    Truman; Vice President
    Roosevelt; Governor of New York
    Hoover; Secretary of Commerce.

Seems to me that sitting US Senators don't hav a great track record at running for President.

    Kennedy was a Senator.

It is true that the US public has recently greatly favored candidates with executive experience - Governors, VP's, Generals, etc over Senators

You know, as silly as it may sound, I seem to know who's going to win an election based on their experience.

Although i voted for Dole, I knew he wouldn't win

I wasn't sure about Bush in 2000. I thought that Gore was going to ride Clinton's coat tails, but then again, Bush was quite popular because of his governorship in Texas

I knew Kerry wouldn't win, again because he was a sitting Senator.

Could Hillary be the third to make history??

I just don't think Hillary could win a general election, I can't explain why, but I just don't think the country would buy into her...not right now anyway. If we were in a more peaceful time in history, then I see her having a chance. As far as I'm concern Gore Beat Bush in 2000, I still think something stinks in my home of FL....and will always think that no matter what you guys present as the opposition to my position on this..so lets not waste the time to debate it..it's over and the president is the president.

Aw, here we go again....why does it stink MD?

-Because voters didn't fulfill their responsibility that goes with their right to vote?
-That they didn't ensure the "chads" were completely removed?
-That they didn't ask for assistance if they were confused about the ballot?
-That during the recount, or should I say recounts, officials were holding ballots up to the light and at different angles trying to determined whether or not someone acutally pushed the pin against a chad?

Please, the aftermath of the 2000 election gave the democrats a black eye at being a bunch of whining cry babies.

I give Kerry credit, at least with Ohio, he had the integrity to concede in the best interest of the country and not go thru another "Florida Fiasco" again
