A question for the Salary Cap gurus out there:
From the clubs perspective, and with regard to bonus money, are there any salary cap advantages when it comes to trading a player to another team versus simply terminating the player's contract?
Thanks.

Yes and no....If you trade a player you have to take the cap hit for this year for anything left on his signing bonus (Amoritization)...Cutting a player ussually means the same thing BUT clubs are allowed to release 2 players a year and spread the hit over 2 years...or you can cut a player after june 1st and also spread the hit over 2 years.
