    Over the weekend...

Over the weekend my wife and I received a call. It was regarding a family with three children that she used to baby sit a couple of years ago, but has remained in contact with them off and on through the years. The husband and wife were having some problems, like any married couple has I’m sure. Anyways, Friday night the wife sent the two older children (I believe to be 13 & 10) to a friends house to spend the night, while she the wife stayed at home with the youngest. Later that night the husband finally came home, and well, we really don’t know what happened from that point on, just that the wife told the youngest child to go next door and call the police and tell them that daddy had a gun. Moments later the S.W.A.T team arrived and surrounded the family’s home. After a brief time, they entered the residence to find the wife shot to death, as well as the husband. They said it was a murder/suicide. Knowing the family no one would have ever guessed something like this could have happened to this family with such a bright, promising future. Even worse, no one really knows what made the husband just snap and lose it. Luckily, however, the children do have family to take them in. One part of the story however that truly saddens me is the fact that the wife had called a friend/neighbor that morning asking her to please take her to her sister’s house until things were worked out at home, however, the friend had to work late that night and wasn't able to come through, and now she partially blames herself. Anyways, I just wanted to share this story, my wife and I are still in disbelief over it. Thanks for listening guys.

the fact that the children now have no father or mother is extremely sad, but to know that the father took the life of the mother then himself is down right devastating.

do the children know that the father took the mother's life, and then his own? Or do they just think they died?

to be quite honest im not sure how the family is going to explain it to the children. Im sure they would have figured something out however, especially the youngest knowing that the father had a gun and the older children knowing their parents were having problems and understanding that. My wife and I are going to the wife's funeral this week, and I will update if I find out anymore information.
