TV's : Plasma vs LCD - Which is better?

Yo, I'm planning on getting a tv soon and have heard different things about both formats. I've heard that with plasma it's harder to see the picture at an angle. Any suggestions would be great. thanks!

Thank god I'm not the only person here with a normal TV. Every thread on this topic, everyone is like "Just got a 600'' inch top of the line Plasma digital LCD supersonic blah blah blah, to go with my 3 blah blah's and my super soundsonic theater downstairs in the TV room."

I thought I was the only person alive with a prehistoric TV.

Could not be further from the truth. I have a 50" plasma and can see it fine from everywhere besides behind it (for obvious reasons). Actually, Dolfan984 can attest to my TV too. He comes over to watch the fin games in beautiful HD sometimes.

I was hesitant to buy plasma at first too. I had heard horror stories about pixels going out and the picture burns into the screen etc. However, Plasma tvs have come a long way and now have a shelf life of about 10 years, which is pretty good considering a few years ago it was about five.

DLP was my second option. They are cheaper, which is nice, but the ones I looked at the picture quality didn't look as good as the plasma. It looked darker and colors looked less full. It was still good, it just wasn't great. I don't know, maybe I was looking the wrong ones. LCD's weren't really an option for me. Not because I didn't like them, but because there weren't a lot around when I was purchasing my tv.

Not sure where you live Jaydog-Besides inside my head that is. But one other thing to ponder, I know that living at elevation (Above 6000') can have very bad effects on Plasma TV's. My sister lives at 7200', and the warrenties on Plasma's go right out the window.

    Plasma, no doubt.

LCD will be obsolete in a couple years due to the release next year of the SCD TV's - a whole new ballgame.
