Excited for the win. The young defense has some talent in Perryman, Porter, Bush, Howard, Johnson, McCord.
Get a more aggressive scheme and allow the DE's to get upfield and the corners to actually press the WR's a little bit and the defense looks bright in the future.
Morris has really hit a lull, and Fisch needs to work the intermediate area a lot more. At this point our offense seems to be dive/stretch runs, screens or bombs. We've almost forgotten the comebacks, curls, slants part of our offense. I actually take this as a sign of little trust in Morris. Screens/bombs have little chance of being intercepted, or in the case of bombs, at least the yardage is generally similar to a punt. On the intermediate throws, you run the risk of interceptions coming back for TD's, not to mention a lot higher percentage chance of a turnover.
Morris is really getting happy feet in the pocket, pulling his eyes down and looking unsure of himself. We need real improvement from him and quickly.
One thing that's overlooked if we do self-impose is that a young team loses valuable practice time for the second year in a row. Flip side is that recruits don't care about scholarship losses for the most part- they see that as just more opportunity for playing time- it's the missing bowls that really deter them.
I'm convinced that part of the punishment the NCAA is doling out is making us wait because they haven't found a ton of tangible evidence due to NFL players not being required to cooperate. By waiting to even send the allegations letter, they're effectively hampering Miami's recruiting by letting the unknown be there while also having every single broadcast talk about the allegations/scandal.
No matter what the Canes decide about this season (I hope they self-impose and get the punishment over for bowls), they have showed some improvement and proven some of the serious haters as just that. Golden is methodical and a grinder, and that's just the type of direction we need right now.
