I finally got around to watching this movie. I didn't realize that Michael Mann directed it and that it came before Miami Vice. I loved the quality of the picture. I like the grit. I know a lot of people don't like it but it's my cup of tea. I hope Mann keeps using this new digital camera that he used in these two movies. I loved seeing LA at night, Mann made it look beautiful. He did the same with Miami in Miami Vice. I also liked the soundtrack. A lot of the music in this movie helped amplify the tone of the scene.

Now to the actual movie, it was surprisingly good. I don't like Jamie Foxx so I usually steer clear of his movies. He's a decent actor but he's a douche. Anyway, Tom Cruise redeemed himself in my eyes with this movie. He was great in it, I loved his character Vincent. I like how the movie choose not to allow the viewer to know anything about Vincent, he was a mysterious hitman. One that I found to be charming and likeable. I think Mann tried to staddle the line between liking the villain or not. I don't know if he did it that well or if I just just to like Vincent no matter.

If you like action flicks with a little tension you should try this out. There's definitely better and worse movies out there, but for me the picture style and the cinematography put it over the top.

I thought this movie was pretty well done. I watched it again for the first time in awhile a few days back.
