I have a few differing opinions...
High Priority
Defensive Line - I have been saying this since November, we don't have anyone outside of Porter as a legitimate pass rusher, it would be nice to have someone on the defensive line to pose that type of threat. B.J. Raji (7.5 sacks and 14 TFL)or Ron Brace
Linebacker - Our LB corp is average at best. Porter will be our pass rush specialist, but we still need to upgrade that unit. Terrell Suggs or Bart Scott
Center or Right Guard - All we need is one of these guys, but two is even better. I am hoping Duke Robinson is there when we pick in the first, but I don't think he will be, no way the top guard in the draft drops that low but if we can add him to the unit with a new o-line coach and this could end up being a good start to a smashmouth runnning game. Medium Priority
Wide Receiver - Our WR corp was the one of the biggest suprises last season. Considering the talent level, I was very impressed with how well they performed. I don't think it's necessary this year to use an early pick to draft or acquire a WR. But if the price is right, than go for it.
Defensive Back - This unit got better as the year went on, but they are flirting with the other side of 30, so we do need to inject some young blood into this unit. The Jason Allen experiment is starting to look like a bust, I still hope he can turn it around though, but I won't hold my breath. Sean Smith, Chip Vaughn, DeAngelo Smith, Mark Parsons

I think concentrating on the o-line and front seven will raise the bar for our fins. We have a tough 2009 schedule and if we want to compete with these teams, this is what we have to improve.
Improving the oline will legitimize our running game. We have way too much talent at RB to let it go to waste behind a mediocre offensive line. When we can consistently open up lanes for our running game, then Pennington will easily pick apart opposing DBs when he needs to do it.
Improving the running game should be our PRIMARY CONCERN

we need a dominant number one to help out our passing offense. With a good number one it will force them to respect the pass better and open up the running game. We NEED a dominant number one, and we do not have one on this roster

dont agree that Crowder was mediocre in the least and I think too many forget Goodman's bad games. He has been a career journeyman and barely a starter.

ive heard a few negative things about Duke Robinson getting manhandled against good teams, not sure if its true or not, but if it is...ill take the best Center in the draft instead.
No mention of the O-line really, and I definitely feel that is where we still need some upgrades.
I agree with needing more of a pass rush, recievers could use a little more help speed wise to at least have that blow by guy out their, at least in certain situations. Some help in the defensive backs, the Cardinals smoked us with their guys.
I like Chad Pennington, he's a good guy and really helped this team this year. So no one take this wrong, Im not saying to get rid of Chad, but I do think we need to really find out if Henne can handle the job. Really give him some playing time in pre-season against other teams 1st unit. If not, then I think we have to look for someone out their to be that QB of the future. Let me add though, I do think Henne can do the job and be our future, but after all the trouble finding a QB that we had, we have to be sure IMO.
1. Center- I think getting a big, run blocking center will solve the offensive line problems. Satele will be a better guard and he can still back up at center. We then got depth at guard with Smiley, Donald Thomas and Satele. Re-signing V.Carey is a big priority. What do you guys think about using the franchise tag on Carey if we cant sign him to a contract? It will give us another year to address other areas at least.
2. Nose Tackle- Getting a future replacement for J.Ferguson has to be #1 priority, along with getting a center. We cant risk banking on Ferguson playing the whole year. The whole defense will cave in if without a good NT.
3.Linebacker- A Passrushing OLB has to be found, but the ILB are weak as well. especially without Crowder.
4.Defensive Back-Miami needs a FS and a CB. They gotta take the BPA when their time comes.
I actually feel the WR position can be a strength for Miami. Getting a big, physical wideout would be nice, but there are just too many other areas of need that are more important.
Where is Ron Brace projected to go? I read somewhere late 1st/early 2nd? Is he a prototypical 3-4 NT?
I definitely agree with seeing if Henne can do the job. I think Pennington is a great leader and Miami should seriously consider grooming Pennington to be a coach. But Henne has the arm to make this offense dynamic.
Ginn's greatness will show only when Henne gets in. From what I've seen of games, Ginn almost alwyas has his man beat deep. Henne can actually hit him in stride. Opposing teams will definitely keep a safety over Ginn. Imagine what Bess, Camarillo, and an improved London can do with one on on coverage all the time? I'm excited about this group and I know they will shine when Henne does get in.
