Um......yes we do know that he existed...and we are very sure the bible wasn't written by just one guy who meant it to be fiction.

The Bible was written by many authors over many milennia, with unknown reasons to it's origin.

Just imagine if the Bible was written by a random guy and was intended to be 100% fiction.

OK, has anyone ever written of Jesus in the time he supposedly walked the Earth, and not decades later? And to the point of Pontius Pilate, mind showing a link of your proof? Any Pilate-Christ link is strictly through the Gospels and nothing more.

The short is answer no. Not because history wasn't written then, it was. But only by scholars and scribes of the day who had a different notion of what needed writing down. During Christ's time Jewish priests and rabbis carried history through word of mouth and was generally accepted as truth by agreement of other priests while the story was told. It was several decades after Jesus' death the original gospels were written down. The order is debated but many contend Matthew was the first to publish his account 65-70 AD. The gospel of Mark is actually through the tellings of Peter since Mark was not an disciple and a companion of Peter. Luke was the historian of the four and his gospel is from the teachings and history of Paul. John wrote his own gospel and published it sometime later. The were other gospels written but not accepted when the Nicene convention was held to determine what would be included in the Bible. There were several days of heated debate by the Christian priests of the day and based on your belief the current books of the Bible define what is considered to be God's living word.

I can't remember off the top of my head and would have to do the research for you but there are historical references other than the gospels linking Christ to Pilate.

Jesus was almost certainly a smaller man, probably around 5' 5" as that would be around average height for the time he was alive (if he ever even existed).

Do you question the existence of all historical figures (Plato, Muhammed, Genghis Khan), or just Jesus?
