Few things...
Newton isn't being compared to Jamarcus Russell because of their skin color, it's because of his lack of sound decision making off the field, and penchant for always wanting to take the short-cut. However, he's also been compared to Vince Young, because that's his ideal comparison as a prospect in terms of stature, experience, skillset, accomplishments and awards.
Warren Moon is accusing society of being racist because they won't proclaim Cam as a "can't miss" franchise quarterback and the best thing since sliced bread... I thought HE was past that. He sounds like Doug Williams...
Cam has noone to blame for the reputation that follows him around except for Cam.. he will have a chance to prove them wrong, or prove them right.
"White" quarterbacks like Ryan Mallett have faced just as much scrutiny... except the basis of his character assassination is based on nothing but rumors and innuendo.. no proof. The proof of Cam Newton's character and background issues have been there since day 1....
Lastly, the version of the spread offense Cam played in is NOT the same version of the spread offense Sam Bradford played in. Bradford took snaps from under center at Oklahoma, and dropping back going through progressions wasn't something foreign to him. Even something Cam Newton himself admitted he's never done at Auburn. Even if he hadn't admitted it, anyone who's ever watched the film on him would know.
Sam Bradford didn't play in a spread OPTION offense, where he was required to read the defensive end and decide whether to keep it and run with it, or hand it off. It wasn't built around Bradford's ability to run the football.
No, Mr. Moon... the type of offense Cam Newton played in was the same as the one Pat White played in, not Sam Bradford.
