Back in the old days ...it was pick your money up at VictoryLand Casino and
clean it up by getting a loan at Colonial bank.
I wonder what the system is now?

*uburn might as well make a run at Brett Favre next, and don't think for a second they wouldn't actually try it...
I think Russell Wilson is a good college quarterback.. as long as he's playing in a conference like the ACC that makes the talking heads at ESPN even foam at the mouth over Jacory Harris and Tyrod Taylor as if they're legitimate quarterbacks.
I look at this very much the way I looked at the Ole Miss/Jeremiah Masoli situation (another quarterback who played in a conference that made him look legitimate... until he found out what SEC defense was all about).
Wilson doesn't really fit Malzahn's offense, certainly not the way that Cam Newton did, but Malzahn could definitely find a way to structure his offense around the workhorse back Michael Dyer with traps and counters, as opposed to how he had it structured around Cam's ability to run the football.
The problem here is that much like the Masoli situation at Ole Miss, you're tampering with team chemistry when you bring in a "one-and-done" quarterback like this who doesn't even participate in spring practice.
This isn't going to be the Senior laden *uburn team they had last year... the entire offensive line is gone, along with several other key Seniors off both sides of the ball.
In other words, I like Wilson, but I think he'd be substantially better off going to South Carolina and play for the OBC where he'll have the best weapons in the conference around him, and also a much easier path to Atlanta. Not to mention the Gamecocks are a team that's ready to compete for an SECe title if they can just nail down a legitimate quarterback.
South Carolina just makes a lot more sense to me from Russell Wilson's perspective....
..although if the money is "too good to pass up" for the Knewtons, you'd think it appears just as green to the Wilsons.

Bama fans talking about paying players. Oh the irony.

Let's not forget the money Luther Campbell paid out to Canes in the 80's.

Considering we've had more success than Alabama the last 30 years and are well on our way back under Golden, I don't see the irony.

Uncle Luke did pay players. Now can Bama fans admit they pay their players too?

All of the big powerhouse programs have had issues at some point or another with rogue boosters, slimy celebrities, and/or people in general throwing money at recruits that aren't even involved with the athletic departments or Universities... including the University of Miami...
..but it becomes an entirely different issue and different set of circumstances when you have BOT's, or even individuals on your coaching staff that have a hand in breaking the rules.... such as USC did, and *uburn, etc..
Anyone that isn't familiar with the Pay Dye era at Auburn, along with the eras following Pat Dye at Auburn (including Tater Tot)... take some time to educate yourself on the history of Auburn and their never ending pursuit of breaking the rules in order to try and get themselves noticed by big brother.
However, it's going to be difficult to accomplish this for a young whippersnapper. There's a generation worth of knowledge there that's just one of those things you have to live everyday for almost 50 years in order to grasp the reality of it ALL...
The "Google" and Wikipedia generation won't scratch the surface..

Who did Bama pay, and which fans did it?
