Ron Paul: I don't accept the theory of evolution

"Well, first i thought it was a very inappropriate question, you know, for the presidency to be decided on a scientific matter," he said. "I think it's a theory...the theory of evolution and I don't accept it as a theory. But I think the creator that i know, you know created us, every one of us and created the universe and the precise time and manner and all. I just don't think we're at the point where anybody has absolute proof on either side."

Cell's evolve, viruses and bacteria too...I dont know how anyone can argue this...I can understand how you may think we have an ultimate creator but creatures on Earth have and do evolve.

I very much doubt he doesnt believe in the elements of the thoery of evolution you just described. Its the major point of randomness creating life as we know it that he as many dont agree has been even close to proven.

Conversely, I don't accept Ron Paul. My idea of God includes His being all-powerful. Who are we to say that He did not set creation into motion as a continuing act, through evolution? The orthodox creationists commit a sacrilege by denying God's omnipotence when they deny that God could have done this.

Next step. What the hell is this POLITICIAN doing making an issue of this wholly religious dispute?

Don't bother with the sanctimonious crap about denying the fundamentally religious participation in government. Live according to your religious beliefs and set an example. Don't pander to a sector of the electorate through your religious beliefs. This is exactly why our forefathers left Europe.

As a Deist who sees enough evidence that the evolution to our present form and perhaps beyond is all part of a Supreme Being's Grand Design, I find this declaration more than a trifle troubling. It's certainly Mr Paul's right to question this or any other theory despite compelling evidence otherwise - but to dismiss it out of hand IMO smacks of endemic close-mindedness.

Huntsman is looking better and better.

Here is his full views when it comes to evolution. Not a 49 second sound bite. Paul isn't a religious social conservative at all. Even though he's a devote christian. He's more liberal than liberals when it comes to civil liberties, privacy and freedom.

If you doubt the theory of evolution, then you must necessarily doubt the scientific method itself.

There is no other scientific theory with more evidence backing it, and none discrediting it, than the theory of evolution.
