    Uncle Al :: Turnovers and Penalties

    Check out these statistics for the Miami Hurricanes from 2010 and now 2011. Quite interesting when you stop and think about what a disciplinarian Randy Shannon was.

    Two critical areas Uncle Al said he was going to clean up....

    Turnovers
    2010 - 36 total
    2011 - 10 total (pace for 18-19....50% drop)
    Only FOUR in the last FIVE games.....
    6 in 6 games with JH12 under center.....

    Penalties
    2010 - 97 Penalties for 803 yards... (7.5 Penalties per game.....61.7 penalty yards per game)
    2011 - 38 Penalties for 275 yards... (5.4 Penalties per game.....39.9 penalty yards per game)

    The Maryland and Virginia Tech losses accounted for 19 penalties and 149 yards.....50% of them this year.

    I guess the fans were still at the stage where all the blame gets funneled down to the assistant coaches.

    They seem pretty poorly coached to me. Not nearly as bad as Carolina but we kinda expected this in Chapel Hill. I mean if you're going to lower yourself to this level and recruit all this professional talent you might as well win some games right?
