If you have a kid who is looking at Penn State fresh out of high school, as a parent, you're probably not exactly comfortable letting your kid go there. That's how it impacts the football program, and in-turn, other athletic programs at the University.
Media was camped outside Sandusky's home. He shut them down. Expected.
Joe is THE figure head at Penn State University. He hasn't said much. Understandable. Also understandable for the media to be outside of his home asking questions and doing their job. They want his input. Media isn't looking to take down Joe Paterno.
And it doesn't matter if Sandusky was an employee or not. Dude had full-access to the campus. Dude is doing this **** on campus. Dude got caught doing it. McQuery walks away like it's not a big deal. How can any MAN do that? Then, Joe reports it to the AD. Then, Sandusky is seen back on campus after everyone knew about it?

If Meyer doesn't come, you can expect someone worth while wanting to succeed Paterno help rebuild the school reputation. Other names on the short list will likely include Golden, maybe even Gruden.
