Which QB's Fit the West Coast Offense?

WCO QB have a short compact release and accurate ball placement. Having a big arm isn't necessary running the WCO; having enough arm strength with superb timing can get the job done see Joe Montana.

I do NOT see that in Matt Flynn, I see a guy who knows the system and is willing to trust the system. A perfect backup, IMO.

Who the draft fits? Closest is Brandon Weeden but hes a fossil.

These are not simple comparisons, nor apt ones. Moon was older entering thr NFL because he was playing pro football. Staubach went to Vietnam, then played on several service teams to help prepare for the NFL. As it is his career was just 10 years, and it took 3 years for him to have a season worth a crap.

Staubach may be the best example of a late entry qb and the Cowboys got half a career from him.

Half of a career for perhaps the best qb of the 1970's. I'm sure any team would love that out of Weeden.

Tannehill played in the WCO at Texas A&M under Mike Sherman. I would say he fits best.

Osweiler is an interesting prospect. Quick over the top release, reads defenses well, strong arm - good touch, played the spread in college. His draw back (by some) is his height at 6'7"240. I don't see that as a problem. Cam Newton is 6'6".
He could be had in rounds 2-4. He needs some work, but his upside is greater than Devlin. He would not solve our QB problem this year, but for the price, he might be a diamond in the rough.

Ideally, I would like to see Manning or Flynn, Moore, Osweiler.

I think Weeden will be drafted before the #8/9 pick out of QB desparation, and we end up passing on Tannehill because he will be a reach at #8/9. He will get drafted before we select again in round 2.

Tannehill is the obvious choice as others have stated. Weeden is the most probable to start as #2 on the depth chart then do what Ponder did last last yr.

Further, Foles or Relf (Mississippi St) as the 3rd stringer/developmental QB is IMO better than Devlin.
