I don't know about the states, but in Canada they kinda do. A normal person gets charged for the offence. A cop gets charged for the offence and also gets charged under the police act. The charges are dealt with at separate times.

Not even surprised. If those WallStreet cops didn't lose their job, doesn't surprise me one bit that this walking piece of human garbage didn't serve any time. I know a majority of them are good people doing a job, but **** the police, man.
I think there would be a lot less engendered disrespect for the Police if they weren't put in a position of enforcing a drug war they cannot win.
