Get manning then snag a qb to groom early in the draft. A qb that manning doesn't have to look over his shoulder, a qb that will truly sit for 2-3 years then take the reigns.

I'm sorry but we're on EVERYONE'S short list, especially the agents'. Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that the Dolphins are the perfect team to leverage even if you have no interest in them. We get used more than any other team. It's an easy leverage play because we seem to be rather desperate (willing to overpay) and South Florida is attractive from both financial and lifestyle perspectives.
I'd be surprised if Peyton, or anyone else, said they WEREN'T interested in Miami.
We've got to make ABSOLUTELY sure his nerve has regenerated and he's got all of his arm strength back. I would love to have him here but we've got to make sure he's strong enough to be effective.
If we do get him, you can forget drafting a QB this year, as Hoops said, it will probably be next offseason. If Manning is our QB then our #1 will most certainly be used on either an O-line men or a pass-rusher. Probably an o-linemen. If Manning is our QB, we HAVE to protect him.

Nooooo. Most of you are holding on to the thought he will be the peyton manning if old!! He won't. He has nerve damage in his throwing arm!! You know how much atrophy he has in his arm? The arm strength will not be the same.
Who we want and need is flynn. I know he's still pretty raw with only two starts but i believe he can be a very good qb. Especially is philbin's west coast offense. Plus he's young and I would much rather have a franchise qb for many years to come then a beat up franchise qb for two years. I know many think he also had a lot of help on green bay but wr have some good weapons too. Just lacking a quality te imo. Get flynn, and worry about a te, o-line, and pass rusher in draft.
I made a thread a few weeks ago saying how this is reminding me of the Drew Brees situation. It didnt take to well and all I got was *****s responding. Will see who gets the last laugh

I would be down with Peyton if he is healthy.

Don't see how anyone would be against this, a perfect situation to groom a young QB under Manning, and if it doesn't work out, so what, we've done worse.

People seemed worried about arm strength, surely even with only 10% strength he can throw harder then Pennington.

This stinks like the Drew Brees situtation like a few previous posters pointed out. I can honestly say that if Manning was signed by Miami and it didnt work out I would be happy we at least tried to get a GREAT QB. Draft a QB next year to groom behind Manning for 3-4 years and this could end up being a Dolphins fans dream, having someone worth a damn under center again.

Proud WR of the Lowell Noreasters AAA semi-pro football team. #19
Proud Firefighter.
If signing Peyton Manning turns out to be a mistake.. It'll be the greatest mistake we ever made. How anyone can honestly say "dont take a chance on perhaps the greatest qb of all time with 3-4 solid years left in him" "instead do what the cardinals did and pull another kevin kolb deal on Matt Flynn who has 2, count em' 2 starts to his name".. Baffles me. This is the biggest no brainer of no brainers. Whats the risk? We sign Peyton, draft a qb in the second rd, and keep Moore. Worst comes to worst, we have the greatest qb coach of all time tutoring and helping to groom our rookie qb pick. Best case: Peyton gets 3-4 years to help tutor a young drafted qb while leading us to 3-4 deep playoff runs.

"Coach Sparano assured us at the beginning of the week, they win the turnover battle, they win the game," guard Richie Incognito said. "And we went out there, turned the ball over."
