Joe Montana is not elite b/c it was all the defense in the SBs:

    -Holding Bengals to 21 pts
    -Holding Marino to 16 points
    -Holding Esiason to 16 pts
    -Holding Elway to 10 points

Who would have thought that scoring more points than the other team would win you a Super Bowl.

Do the Giants have an elite defense?

That's a fair question to ask, right?

Montana led offenses to 35 PPG in SBs(opposing D's allowed avg of 18 PPG) +17
    SF D's allowed 14 PPG(opposing O's averaged 27 PPG in reg seasons) +13

Eli led offenses to 18 PPG in SBs(opposing D's allowed avg of 19 PPG) -1
    NYG D's allowed 16 PPG(opposing O's averaged 34 PPG) + 18

    which was better?

So what's your point? He's elite when it matters most. Also, are you really going to say he wasn't elite last yea for the whole season?

Furthermore, rail on him for the regular season all you want but he's never led the Giants to a losing season since taking over a full season as starter. You don't know what you're arguing.

But you're also the guy who campaigned hard for Chad Pennington, Herm Edwards, and then Eric Mangini--so your football opinions are questionable on their best days

No, leading his team to 9 wins in a weak division, throwing just 3 more Tds and 2 less INTs than sanchez doesn't strike me as elite.

Chad was a very good QB, herm a good HC for us and I don't remember going nuts for Mangini but none of that has anything to do w/ this topic. Nice deflection.

Never a losing season? has mark sanchez ever led his team to a losing season? not even as a rookie where eli was 1-6 as a rookie

it was last year, 9 wins was good enough to win the division. Only had one team w/ winning record, also included a 5 win team(that swept the Giants).
