Round 1 (9): Quinton Coples DE, North Carolina.
I can actually see Coples falling to us on draft day and if he does than Miami has to pull the trigger. The pick would have two immediate benefits for us, (1) our defensive line would be immediately upgraded allowing us to let go of a couple guys in free agency, clearing up cap space and (2) Cam Wake would become even more effective in the pass rush as his numbers have been affected by being the lone pass rushing threat on our defense.

Round 2: Brock Osweiler QB, Arizona St.
Having signed Peyton Manning in Free Agency, Miami still needs to find a developmental QB. Manning barring re-injury should give us a few seasons, and Moore will be a quality back up. Osweiler has all the tools that you look for in a QB prospect: size, arm strength, mechanics, athleticism, ran a pro style offense. I was pulling for Miami to draft Ryan Mallet last year and Osweiler has a similar make up to him but more athletic. While Osweiler is still very raw he has all the tools make it in the NFL.

Round 3: Dwight Jones WR, North Carolina.
Although falling down draft boards, no one doubts Dwight Jones' talent. He has all the tools to be the #2 wideout that Miami is lacking, He is a big guy (6'4,225) and at times can make some pretty spectacular catches. While he definetly needs to work on his blocking, I personally think that all that is holding this young man back is his inability to put it all together in his head. I think Philbin would be able to put him into a situation where he would succeed quickly in the NFL.

Round 4: Trumaine Johnson CB, Montana.
Ball hawking CB who could maybe make a transition to FS. Our secondary needs help big time, and while Sean Smith is not a total lost cause, I will cringe if I see him as our starting #2 CB next year. You will not find a better value pick than Johnson. Would perhaps have been drafted higher but a run in with the law will most likely drop him down to the 4th round.

Round 5: Tank Carder ILB, Texas Christain University.
Very well could be gone by this point but if he is there he could be a great developmental guy on the inside, plus be a contributor on special teams. There seemed to be alot more buzz about this guy last season but he is still a big solid player who put up good numbers.

Round 6: Josh Chichester TE, Louisville.
A big (6'8) and agile (4.70) TE who shows potential in the receiving game. The former WR had 2 TDs this year and 5 in his first season at TE 2 years ago. Could definitely muscle up and become a much better blocker. Although many people are clamoring for a high pick to be used on a TE, I like what I saw out of Clay and think he needs to be moved to TE. Between Fasano, Clay and Chichester I think the Dolphins have a very solid TE corps with lots of potential.

Elite speed and could be used as a change of pace back, slot receiver and return man. Has the ability to make something happen whenever he touches the ball. Has stated that he will focus on track which could push him out of the draft, however given his talent he would be worth taking a flyer on in the 7th.

I also hope that our hybrid defence is predomintately a 3-4 defense as I think it works best with our personel.

Thanks for the time and effort put into this but a few comments.

1. Quintin Coples is extremely overrated, many mocks have him as a late first and even falling out of the first round. So I don't see him "falling" to us as much as his stock just plummeting overall.

2. 2nd round QB I would take is Nick Foles from Arizona, better pro prospect IMO. Although I'd rather add a WR in Mohamed Sanu out of Rutgers or TE Fleened from Standford.

3. Jeff Demps has already declared he will persue track as his career instead of football.

I think If you want defense we get Upshaw in the 1st. Osweiler in the 2nd is too early, Foles probably as well. I'd look at Fleener at 2, Osweiler in the 3rd. I'd also consider Cliff Harris in the 5th, where he could fall to instead of the late 1st/2nd rd where his talent puts him.

You can draft him if you want, but Demps has stated that he is concentrating on the Olympic trails and is not entering the draft.

You can draft Demps and hopes he joins the team at a later date ala Ron Brown who was drafted in 1983 but didn't join the L. A. Rams until after he participated in the 1984 Summer Olympic Games.

You might want to substitute Demps for Chris Rainey if you want a multi-purpose change of pace back. Demps is a better all-around player who set a SEC record by blocking six punts in his career.
