    LOL.. The Meatball's New Columbo!

    .
Jets RT Wayne Hunter's $2.45 million base salary became guaranteed Wednesday because the team did not release him.
The Jets seemed to protect themselves in Hunter's 2011 contract by writing in a loophole to get out of the deal if they released him on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this week. It never happened. Hunter, 30, was a media whipping boy in his first season as a starter, and for good reason. Pro Football Focus graded Hunter as the fifth-worst offensive tackle in football. Considering his salary, Hunter figures to return as a starter in 2012.

Have fun with the worst offensive lineman in the game starting for you again next season. At least you will have something to deflect how crappy Sanchez is again. Play like a jet!

we made a title game w/ him starting. Hopefully they can help him back to that form and I'm sure we'll have some competition for him anyway. We'll see, I can't say I have confidence in Hunter starting opening day but I'd expect some competition for him. In a perfect world he's a quality backup again.

Maybe Tony signs Columbo to back Hunter up. Wouldn't be surprised if McQuistan winds up there as well.

    PATHETIC

Clueless Meatballs and Turnstyles = Kismet
    PFT:

Many Jets fans assume/hope/wish/pray that the team will find a new right tackle for 2012.

    They may be assuming/hoping/wishing/praying wrong.

G.M. Mike Tannenbaum told WFAN on Thursday that Wayne Hunter remains the starter. “We expect Wayne back,” Tannenbaum said, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. “We expect him to be our starter. We need more consistent line play. There’s no question about that. . . . We expect him to play better this year.”

Of course, “expect” is one of those convenient lawyer words that can be adjusted if necessary. Expectations can change if, for example, the Jets find someone better in free agency. Or if Hunter is outperformed by his backup during the offseason, or in training camp.

Tannenbaum also has said he expects quarterback Mark Sanchez to play better. It’ll be hard for that to happen if Hunter doesn’t play better.
