Celtics open to offers for Pierce

One week out from the trade deadline, is this the calm before the storm or prelude to a fizzle? "It's all over the map," said one team executive who believes that all but the best of the best -- the Bulls, the Heat and the Thunder -- will seriously pursue trades, but perhaps only six or fewer teams actually will make one. ... The Celtics are prepared to entertain offers for Paul Pierce, whose subtraction from the Boston core would be the most advantageous to the post-Big Three rebuilding effort given his age (34) and the $32 million he's owed over the next two seasons. And for those same reasons, he'll be the most difficult of Boston's top four players to move.Read more:

Too bad Danny Ainge doesn't have his old Boston Celtic's running mate (Kevin McHale) to give Ainge everything he wants to help the Celtic's to another title, like he did in the Kevin Garnett give-away. The Fixer (David Stern) never should have allowed this trade to happen in the first place. Now the Celtics are an old team once again and Ainge is feeling the heat. I am sure Ainge will try and swindle some team at taking one of his old Big Threes (Pierce, Garnett and Allen)....and some team will probably fall for it.

I thought it was a pretty sweet deal for Minnesota. Pre-injury Al Jefferson looked like the best post scorer in the game and they entered that draft with 2 high lotto picks and a couple more first rounders. It just so happens they got a lousy draft and didn't get lucky enough to land the only superstar in Griffin. Have a little more luck and we're looking at a team built around Jefferson, Griffin, Curry, and Lawson.

There's so much random luck in the NBA when it comes to personnel decisions.
