Jeff Ireland is so much smarter and competent than Lombardi, it's not even funny. They asked Lombardi what he would have done instead, and he was a blathering idiot. He said he would have signed a free agent instead. Well, Manning is 36 and would have filled a different concept (short term) than Tannehill (long term). As for Flynn, it's plenty obvious that Miami didn't pay him for a reason. It wasn't a "strike out" as simpletons in the media portray. Miami preferred the 6'4 athletic kid with accuracy, ability to move, throw on the run, and gym rat tendencies over an undersized 7th round qb with a popgun arm. Who ends up better--Flynn or Tannehill? While not proven, it's clear Miami likes Tannehill better. Otherwise they would have paid Flynn.

As for where Miami picked Tannehill, Miami got value. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that quarterbacks are taken on a different schedule than other players. It's obvious why. The quarterback position is different in kind than any other position. That's why the value spot for a qb is much different than for other positions. That's why Gabbert, Locker, and Ponder went high last year and Tannehill did this year. That's how it works. The fact that Lombardi can't wrap his mind around that shows he is too feeble to be working as a GM.

And if Lombardi were consistent, he would have trashed the Patriots wacko second round pick of Trayvon Martin or Wilson or whatever safety from Illinois who can't play in the second round. Talk about a reach. The Pats have loads of picks every year and can't figure it out year after year. The considerable tally of defensive picks he has wasted is insane. They went to the SB based on Brady. It sure as heck wasn't Bellicheat drafting defensive talent, when you see that awful unit out there.

I've never been a fan of Mike Lombardi. But god damn, I really don't care much about anyone's opinion there except Charles Davis because it seems like Charles Davis was the only person there doing his job. Any one of us can do their job because all they did was talk about the 1st maybe 2nd round pick and maybe something in free agency that the team did. Charles Davis went over EVERY single player we drafted and talked about their positives and a few negatives for a couple players in details. It would have been nice for him to say more negatives and all but it was nice to hear an in depth review of our draft.

If anyone tells you that Miami didn't get value in this draft (from anything but Tannehill and Egnew) then they flat out don't understand draft grades/value. Miami got a steal in Jon Martin, a steal in Lamar Miller, a steal in Rishard Matthews, and tremendous potential from Vernon.

Interesting reading Lindy's that just came out gave the Pats a A in their draft but 5 out of the 7 players that they drafted were all injured in college. Makes you wonder. After reading all the draft reviews and mock drafts we did not kill it as much as my first impression. I am a bit worried about the U picks in particular as both are a bit raw in experience and the history record of Miller is a concern other than that I feel that while we also filled needs we also finally drafted some depth for the first time in a long time. Out QB depth appears pretty good. Really the Cunningham WR pick 6th, Vernon DE pick 3rd and Egnew TE 3rd were the only underated players based on all the draft guides. Ireland did trade down in the 3rd and got a 6th for Egnew who was projected in the 4th, Cunningham was projected as high as the 6th but more 7th rounder and Vernon must have come on strong at the end because most had him from the 4th to the 6th round. Like I said the Pats got an A for drafating need I guess but I am going to be interested to see how many of their picks end up playing with themselves in the training room

I think everyone is looking at the Brandon Marshall trade and not looking at other areas

i think we are a better team heading into 2012 than we were going into 2011. Lets let the season play out and see where we are. I like the direction the team is trending in and i was happy with got rid of Marshall. Good teams don't deal with players like that.
