I wouldn't be surprised to see his stats decline some because he now faces 2 of the premier LTs in the division.

He is going to get moved around...Mark Anderson and Merrimen were probably too small to play on the left side anyway..From What i have been hear the Bills will play alot of 43 over/under stuff so when Williams is on the left side he will be playing anything from 5 to 7 tech...Mario is a big guy is real tough to move in the run game..That will enable Anderson and Merrimen to play alot 7 thru 9 and keep them away from those LT's....Williams stats are going to go way down but facing RT's should maybe even that out a bit..He will also get more attention from Te's as well.

Mario Williams played LDE in college and most of his career in the pros, so the author of this piece needs to get his facts straight since LDE is NOT a "new position" for Williams at all. IIRC, the last time the Jests played the Texans, the Jests OC moved D'Brick to the right side of the line to oppose Williams. Last season he played on the right side as RDE/ROLB, so he wants to return to the left side where he's more comfortable.

This is a non-story in Buffalo since most knowledgeable fans assumed that Mario would play LDE since the team signed him, and especially when the Bills signed Mark Anderson who has been primarily a situational pass rusher as a RDE.

the Jets did not move Brick to RT when they met in 2010. He was matched up w/ Hunter all game long and he killed Hunter.

I'm pretty sure he played most of his career as a RDE

If he "killed Hunter" in 2010, then it was because he was playing on the left side of the defensive line (facing the RT) rather than on the right side where he would face the LT.

they moved him so he wouldn't have to face Brick who dominated him in the '09 opener. They were smart to take advantage of an inexperienced Hunter who was playing one of his first games for us.

Mario Williams is a very good player, but honestly is he great? As in "highest paid defender in NFL history" elite? There is a lot of pressure on him after getting this deal and you have to wonder if he is going to be what Buffalo thinks he will be. He is coming off a major injury and I think the league's best defender(in his type of position) should be averaging a minimum of 10 sacks per year. Mario hasn't done that since the 2008 season and has steadily declined in that category to 9, to 8.5 to 5.0. In comparison Wake, who just got an extension for much less than what Mario got has been far more productive the past three seasons.

Again, Mario is a very good player, but can he realistically live up to the hype?
