to me the quote illustrates Tony's strengths and weaknesses. He is a great motivator, but that's really is only strength. Not a great X's and O's guy, and not good with strategy. When his motivation starts failing, he has nothing

thats kind of the way i saw it also...and i think once the motivation fell on deaf ears which it did in 2011 he had nothing...the players kept saying the right things but i think privately they lost the respect for him...and frankly with the way he played the game which was not to lose instead of playing to win and i'm sure a lot of that had to do with what he had at his disposal at the most critical position on the field qb i think the players saw through all the fist pumps and ra ra crap early
hoops scoops...prospects mia should target top 4 rounds 2013 draft...

Blasphemy! There is a hell of a lot more to motivation then running up and down the sideline pumping your fist and slapping asses. Sparano is the farthest thing you can ever find from a leader and motivator. I said after that round table clown show that Meatball looked like a scorned baby and reports during the off season through his firing were he acted like it daily around the training facility. Great leaders are motivators, do you think Don Shula would have ever said something like that? Meatball acting like a child is why we started out 0-6 because his troops had no faith in him. Tony Sparano is the ultimate example of a follower a true yes man that appeased his leader Parcells to the point he was promoted to a position he was no way near qualified for! You think it is by accident after Parcells left the team lost its focus and discipline? A motivator gets results, his troops believe in him and what he is telling them, they give 110% for their leader and failure is not an option. The only good thing i can say is that failure is no longer our problem! When the wheels start falling off the Jets bandwagon, and Rex is crying at the podium the Meatball Albatross will be assn extra weight around his neck!

The Giants won the super bowl and the Jets went 8-8 last year. Doesn't that negate the other two years? Championships mean everything. Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, big nuts.
Eli won as Super Bowl in his fourth year as a starter. We'll see how your super clutch wonder boy does in year four. I'm predicting slightly less that a Lombardi trophy but we shall see.
Over the 3 years the SB trumps all so despitre having lss success in 2 of the 3 seasons you give the Giants the edge for the 3 years overall but individually the Jets were significantly better than the Giants 2 of the 3 seasons.

If mark's D plays like the Giants D did in the '07 postseason he'll have a great shot to win his first SB this year.

'09 & '10 the jets made 2 postseasons, 2 title games, won 4 playoff games while the Giants didn't make a postseason. Obviously what they did last year trumps all but to say the Giants have been superior in the 3 years rex has been here would be false.
Here we go with this **** again.

The Giants winning in 2011 trumps the Jets 2 AFCTG appearances in 2009 and 2010. You'll probably disagree with this but that's why we're all here right?

Not to mention Mark's great shot at winning the SB this year

It does and I said that. Over the 3 years that gives the Giants the egde but looking at each season individually the jets were much better 2 of the 3 seasons.

Here is how I see Sparano. He came in and did a great job first year with the change-over with guys from dallas and the draft and with Pennington. From there it went downhill because mainly, he did not prepare people as much as he should have.

The bottom line with last year I read it as this:

Off year with CBA a complete disaster and Sparano played the "we are just going with starters" crap which spells laziness. He was jobbed on the Harbaugh thing and he basically was gone but Ireland probly convinced Ross that Sparano was a problem but if we get rid of him now, it will be bad timing for the new coach to come in with no identifying with new players, system, yadda yadda yadda.

This is common sense. Read the actions, not words said by people. Its like Obama, whatever he says, think the opposite.

stupid arguement is idiotic. a super bowl win is worth more than anything either of our teams have accomplished in the last 39+ years.
