Some of these stones weigh more than 800 tons, our modern day cranes pewter out at 1200 tons, & these were made 12,000-14,000 years ago.

Spectacular in its own right the ruins of
Puma Punku in Tiahuanaco, in South America are now known as the oldest
stone structures on planet Earth.

Defying logic, these stone structures amaze and confuse archaeologists
because it is highly unlikely that any of the stones in Puma Punku were cut
using ancient stone cutting techniques, at least not those of which we are
aware. The stone structures in Puma Punku are made up of granite, and
diorite. Interesting enough, the only other stone that is harder that those
two is the diamond. If the people who built this place cut these stones using
stone cutting techniques, then they would had to have used diamond tools.

Another mysterious fact about these stone structures is their weight. One
stone is said to weigh in excess of 800 tons, and furthermore, we have
noted that the nearest quarry is 10 miles away from the stone structure's
location. Even with modern day technology and machinery, archaeologists believe that replicating these stone structures would be difficult, if at all
possible.

This is one of the most impressive ruins found on the planet.
A few silly hypotheses:
1. Extraterrestrial Alien help
2. The human people worked for a long..long.. time to accomplish this feat
3. Humans built it using a higher technology and were later almost completely wiped out through some type of cataclysm. There is a theory that the evolution of human life has been through many cycles.
4. Time travelers from the future
5. Any other ideas?

Well, I don't think some of those are silly.

There's been a rogue movement throughout the archaeologist'c community which several scholars are trying to say that Humanity has been around for much, much longer than we think it has. Several different sites such as this one, and also the pyramids, have been used as evidence to support that claim. Ofcourse this has been met with ferocious resistance because obviously it'd mean all the established history we've been teaching about humanity's history would have to be re-written.

This would mean that, as you've stated, humanity progressed to a very advanced status and then due to some sort of cataclysmic event, most of them were wiped-out. Perhaps this has happened more than once even, who knows? Graham Hancock is one of the leaders in this field & shares his thoughts on the subject.

Some people think extra-terrestrials might have helped build these things, but obviously this theory doesn't get a lot of academic support. My question would be, why haven't they come back to help us again? Well it was a couple thousands years ago, so maybe they just haven't made their way back yet?

I disagree, however, with the premise that they just worked on it for a long time. Either you know how to move an 800ton granite block, or you don't. There's a lot of speculation as to how they moved the stones, some people suggest they used wooden logs as rollers. Well, the site of the ruins is so high it's above the tree-line. Well maybe they brought it up with them, that's possible, but the logs disintegrate & crumble on approaching 200 tons. Given that our modern cranes max-out at 1200 tons, there's definitely a lot of mystery about how they moved or cut these things.

If I had to pick a theory, I would go with the advanced status. There could have been multiple advanced civilizations and when the majority of the population was swiped out, so was the technology...back to the stone age. The geologic time line only goes back so far in the areas ...we just have scratched the surface... and there are some evidence of disaster.
