Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life
Looks like people in the thread were wrong, Darlington is now saying we gave Moore a 2 year, $8 million contract.

I may not consider it the second most important position but backup QB is important. Considering how important the QB position is I would say back up QB is the most important back up position on an NFL team. How often do we see a drop off with teams when the starting QB goes down. Heck, some don't even have an alternative (see Jets). If Moore would have walked the Jets would have been all over him. Most teams would. Moore probably could have started on several teams. I love that signing. Looking back at last year when Tannehill went down I think he is the best choice for the back up spot and guarantees us that we don't have to water down the playbook if he ever has to get into the game.

But $6 Million? No way. Maybe over 2 years. I would assume that Moore signed a slightly more deal like he had - $3 Mill to $3.5 Mill per year. Money well worth invested.

6 mil would be way too much. i was surprised we got him back, i thought he was gone. we still have a ton of money to go after help at wr, cb, ol and te. not to mention the draft.

Quarterback is the most important position on the field. Then every other position that directly helps it, or directly stops the opposing teams quarterback, comes next. That $8 million could be going towards a left tackle, wideout, tightend, pass rusher, or corner. All of those positions are considered premier positions in this league and we are lacking at all of them. Hell, we dont even know if we have a run game to help Tannehill at the moment.

Yes, backup qb's have some importance. But they are a luxury signing. Anyone remember Marino's backups? Koser, Ron Jaw, Scott Mitchell. For the time, those were pretty quality guys. We kept rotating them in and out as they left for other teams or retired. Is it nice to have Moore? Sure. Is he going to touch the field? If our players do their job he wont. Could we get similar production for cheaper? Hell yes. Jason Campbell, Matt Cassel, Matt Flynn, etc, etc, etc. We could find a solid starter somewhere. And all of this ignores the fact that if Tannehill goes down: we are screwed. As good as Moore is, he wont be leading this team to a Superbowl.
I dont have to much of a problem with $4 million a year. Not thrilled, but i can live with it. But id argue their are 13 or 14 more important positions than backup quarterback. And this entire rant is beside the point that our fanbase shouldnt be falling over themselves to suck off our front office for resigning a ****ing backup.
edit: and i would be completely ok with Moore signing with the Jets. Moore has shown hes not a franchise quarterback. And i am all about the Jets not drafting a franchise quarterback.

A rabbit's foot may bring good luck to you, but it brought none to the rabbit.~Ambrose Bierce

I love it. The team's only offensive playmaker, who doesn't even want much money, is expendable but the backup QB is a top priority. This is on top of the fact that our third string QB may actually be better than that backup.
