Shooting outside the Empire State Building

Fire officials say several people have been shot outside the Empire State Building.A fire department spokesman says it received a call about the shooting just after at 9 a.m. Friday and that emergency units were on the scene within minutes.
The spokesman had no information about how many people were wounded or their conditions.
The shooting occurred at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Disgruntled employee. Shot and killed ex co-worker, then was shot and killed by police when he pulled his gun on them. Police may have shot the bystanders.

Im sure that some were hit by the killer himself during the crossfire with police, but 9 wounded is a damn high number if it was all the police.

A construction worker who witnessed the shooting followed the suspect and then alerted police who were posted nearby. As the officers approached Johnson, he pulled his gun and fired on the officers. They returned fire and killed him, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
None of the other people who were shot were seriously wounded and they are all expected to recover. Some of those wounded may have been hit by police gunfire, Bloomberg said.

). Helicopters and cops everywhere. Street cordoned off for blocks. Never a cool thing to see, especially around a landmark like the ESB.

Just watched the video of it and it's hard to place any blame on them. They were approaching him when he came around a tree, pulled his gun, and started firing. They reacted and started firing back. Can't imagine being in their place.

Of course, the city is about to face a ton of lawsuits. They certainly deserve the money over all the schools being closed here.
