We drafted vontea in 09 at the 26th pick I believe, and we just got back a second rounder from the colts not green bay... It will be a very low second most likely only 7 to 15 picks behind where we drafted him. We got 3 seasons of play out of him so the value we got is very good. I do agree that we have not been great in 2nd round picks the last number of years, but I believe this will be used in a trade rather then hanging on to it until next April.

I liked vontea but he was not an elite cb, coyles specialty is db's and Marshall was outplaying him in camp for the job. Everyone complains about the lack of talent we have so then we trade for a high draft pick and our untalented squad all of the sudden demands first round picks.

Value is only determined from what someone will pay for it not what u list it for...

I have to agree with the OP. I've seen so many knee jerk reactions to this trade and in reality we got good value for a guy the coaching staff did not want and it could help us land a WR either via trade or in next years draft. I've even heard people refer to this years draft negatively before a regular season snap is even played. I mean yes Martin has looked bad and Egnew doesn't look to be a factor this year but at least give these guys a season or two to declare them complete failures.

Why was this moved? Dealt directly with the dolphins and a big event that just happened... The moderators bury logical posts that can get people to think and use logic to discuss our teams recent trade, it must not fit with ur personal viewpoint... Hmmm reminds me of censorship

yea 2 of our top 3 picks this year have blown chunks, but its all good. Cant see the negative there.

As for amateur GMs, this franchise would be far better off if TedSlimm were our GM the last decade.
