    He'll probably catch a fine.

Aye, left the ground, which takes away from the hit.

Yeah, but the helmet hits the helmet under the chin.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Tate's block, I'm just thinking like "the man."

Sean Lee wasn't in a defenseless position though

& really he put the crown of his helmet in Lee's chest, it just so happened to graze his chin.

If you pause at :20 seconds in, you'll see his feet are still planted when he makes the block.

It's a launch though. His feet may be on the ground when he makes contact (which granted they are), but the power he created was from launching his legs.

On the defense-less argument, I can see it. Tate came in from the side at full pace, which left Lee with no time to react, as he was focused on the ball carrier. I do agree though that its not the same as a defense-less receiver or QB.

    This is Mike Pereira's tweet

The hit on Lee is an illegal blindside block. Lee is considered defenseless, which means you can't lower your head & hit in head/neck area.

Personally, I think him being considered defenseless is absolutely crazy. He wasn't in the air trying to make a catch, he wasn't kicking a field goal, he wasn't fielding a punt, he just didn't have his head on a swivel. What's Tate supposed to do? Wait for him to take his head out of his ass?

Pretty hilariously the replacement refs called a personal foul on this play.. but it wasn't on Tate. It was on a Cowboy for that delicate late push out of bounds. Watched it with a Dallas fan who nearly had a stroke from the call.
