GM I want the Dolphins to have a GM willing to take some risks.

This is something I need to get off my chest.

I believe something the Dolphins need is a GM who is willing to trade up during draft day to grab good players in positions of need. Jeff Ireland as a GM is like Dan Henning as an offensive coordinator; ultra conservative, takes no risk, plays it safe.

If you look at teams like the Dallas Cowboys, who aren't afraid to trade up and grab players like Des Bryant or Morris Claiborne. Look at the Falcons, who moved up to take Julio Jones. I can't help but think that Jeff Ireland is too afraid to fail on a draft pick, afraid to fail to overpay a player, and in turn, his conservative approach is causing us to fail anyways.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, because trading for Brandon Marshall, signing a LB (Dansby) to a contract that has him making over $10 mil next year, or taking Tannehill in the first round wasn't taking risks........There are issue to discuss with Ireland, but he has taken his share of risks. And he's avoided a lot of headaches by not taking risks fans were clamouring for (Kolb and Flynn come to mind).

Honestly, I'd rather just have a competent GM who chooses the RIGHT players! That goes alot farther than risk taking.

If that was true we wouldn't need a Free Safety!!!!

Ireland is a coward. I think we've seen him take an incredibly timid approach to building this team. But on top of that he's just not a very good talent evaluator. One of the few times he's moved up it was to take Daniel Thomas while passing on Demarco Murray. He chose Egnew over Hilton, which is pretty egregious. He's bad at evaluating playmakers. Part of his playing it safe is to cover for the fact that he's not very good at his job.

Look Brandon Marshall and Vonte Davis on this squad yesterday and we would have won the game. Maybe even Chad Johnson. Sooo you have to ask the question was it Philbin or Ireland that did not want Vonte Davis, Marshal and Chad Johnson on the Dolphins roster. Does anyone really know out there or just hear say or reading between some lines. It is quite obvious that Irelnad picked them now who did the unpicking?

5+ years, Jeff Ireland has done apoor job with this roster. The ? is now that we have cap money and are holding lots of drat picks, do you let him screw it up, or cut bait now and give a new gm plenty of ammo to work with. I vote the second. I have seen enough, or should i say haven't seen enough.

This is not only flat out wrong (he's traded up for running backs, he's traded for questionable guys like Marshall, he took a big risk with Ryan Tannehill, etc) but absolutely nothing new or insightful.
