New England Patriots defensive end Chandler Jones was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September, the league announced Thursday.
In four games (all starts), Jones had 17 tackles, three sacks, including two forced fumbles.
The 22-year old was the 21st overall pick in April's draft, from Syracuse.
Jones' early playing time is notable. At one point thought to be a prospect who would need time to develop, Jones has been a three-down player for the Patriots.
